Base Class: Barbarian
Less brutal than some of their peers, Barbarians who walk the Path of the Skald are storytellers, lore keepers and musicians. They balance a penchant for violence with the artistic expression of a bard, using their gifts for oration and song to inspire their allies and evoke terror in the hearts of their enemies.
Bardic Training
Beginning when you choose this path at 3rd level, you’ve undergone basic bardic training. You gain proficiency in the Charisma (Performance) skill and with two musical instruments of your choice. Moreover, whenever you speak or sing, you can choose to have your voice boom, becoming audible to people up to 300 feet away.
War Chant
Also at 3rd level, you’ve learnt a special chant to rouse and inspire your allies. When you enter your rage, you can choose to begin a War Chant for the duration of the rage. While your War Chant is active, you gain a number of temporary hit points at the beginning of each of your turns equal to your proficiency bonus, and any creatures of your choice within 15 feet of you that can hear you gains the following benefits:
- The creature adds your rage damage bonus to any damage it deals.
- The creature can use your Reckless Attack feature, following the same rules as you.
Imposing Orator
At 6th level, you have developed a talent for oration and conversation. You gain proficiency in the Charisma (Persuasion) skill. Moreover, you add your Strength modifier to any Charisma ability checks you make.
Inspiring Chant
At 10th level, your chant fills the hearts of your allies with bravery and determination. While your War Chant feature is active, you and creatures under its effects are immune to being charmed or frightened.
Warrior's Dirge
At 14th level, your voice can usher your allies back from the brink of death. When a creature under the effect of your War Chant is reduced to 0 hit points, you can use your reaction to immediately end your rage. When you do so, the creature is instead reduced to 1 hit point, and gains a number of temporary hit points equal to your barbarian level. These temporary hit points last until the beginning of your next turn. Once a creature has received this benefit, it cannot receive it again until you finish a long rest.
