Base Class: Monk

There is a state of being where challenge and skill align perfectly, and a creature in such a state acts effortlessly and beyond what they are capable of consciously. This flow state requires a refined mind and body capable of meeting the demands of such a state, but it can be cultivated. Monks who pursue the Way of Flow are those who specifically cultivate their bodies and minds to enter that state at whim, to make that which is would normally be impossible effortless

Flow State

3rd-level Way of Flow feature

Your mind shuts off amidst the sounds of battle and becomes devoid of wasted motion. When you hit a creature with one of your unarmed strikes, you gain a stack of Flow. For each stack of flow you gain a +1 to attack rolls (max. 3). You lose all stacks of flow if knocked unconscious or if your turn ends and you have not spent ki points or you haven’t attacked a hostile creature since your last turn. 

Concentrated Rest

3rd-level Way of Flow feature

When you take a short rest and spend hit dice to regain hit points, you can spend 1 ki point to regain additional hit points equal to one roll of your Martial Arts die.

Automated Defense

6th-level Way of Flow feature

Your flow state moves beyond offense and your body now automatically responds defensively. When you take damage from a creature, you may use your reaction to gain resistance to all damage from that creature until start of your next turn.

Effortless Action

11th-level Way of Flow feature

When you have flow stacks and use your flurry of blows class feature, you may make one additional unarmed strike.

In addition, if you hit every unarmed strike as part of your flurry of blows, regain the ki point spent on the feature at the end of your turn.

Emptiness

17th-level Way of Flow feature

Your mastery of form and function has reached the peak of effortless, your body moves before thought to respond to any possible threat. As an action, expend 5 ki points to achieve 3 flow stacks and they cannot be lost except for falling unconscious. While in this state you are not limited by the number of reactions you may take to perform opportunity attacks or to use your Automated defense class feature. This lasts for one minute, after which you take one point of exhaustion

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
