Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Way of the Mind, also called psychic monks, follow a tradition established by the githzerai race, harnessing the psionic energy that comes from a powerful and well-disciplined mind. Psychic monks develop great control over their minds and bodies through rigorous training and meditation, learning to manipulate their mental energy to augment their physical abilities, protect themselves from harm, and assail the minds of their foes.
While most that follow the Way of the Mind are githzerai, exceptional monks of other races are sometimes accepted by githzerai teachers who instruct them in this monastic tradition. These students use their mastery of ki to emulate the naturalborn psionic abilities of the gith.
Psionic Arts
Starting at 3rd level, you can channel your psychic power to replicate the effects of certain spells. You can spend 1 ki point to cast shield, or 2 ki points to cast detect thoughts, see invisibility, or levitate.
Additionally, you learn the mage hand cantrip, and the hand is invisible when you cast it with this feature. If you already know the mage hand cantrip, the hand is invisible when you cast it, the range of the spell increases to 60 feet, and the maximum weight that the hand can carry increases to 20 pounds.
When you cast any spell granted by this monastic tradition, Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for it. If any of these spells forces your target to make a saving throw, it makes it against your Ki Save DC (8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier). In addition, these spells are cast innately, requiring no components.
Strike with the Mind
Beginning at 6th level, your psionic energy channels itself through your body to enhance your unarmed strikes. When you make an unarmed strike, you deal an extra 1d4 psychic damage on a hit. This damage increases to 1d8 at 11th level, and again to 1d12 at 17th level.
In addition, when a creature fails its saving throw against one of your Stunning Strikes, that creature becomes paralyzed until the end of your next turn.
Greater Psionic Arts
At 11th level, you gain more control over your psychic abilities, allowing you to create stronger effects. You can spend 5 ki points to cast telekinesis or wall of force.
Psionic Mastery
By 17th level, your psychic abilities have reached their peak, rivaling that of the greatest githzerai masters. You can spend 7 ki points to cast plane shift. If you choose to banish an unwilling creature, you make an unarmed strike against the target instead of a melee spell attack.
Additionally, you are always under the effects of the mind blank spell.
