Base Class: Sorcerer
Blood Born are sorcerers who have delved into the forbidden arts of self-sacrifice to amplify their magical abilities. They willingly offer parts of their life force, channeling their own vitality into their spells and harnessing unimaginable power. By embracing the symbiotic relationship between life and magic, Blood Born become masters of life-infused sorcery, wielding energies that both heal and harm.
Sacrificial Surge
Starting at 1st level, when you cast a spell of 1st level or higher using a spell slot, you can choose to sacrifice hit points equal to 3 times your proficiency bonus. When you do so, for every 3 hp you sacrifice you can increase your spell attack, spell damage, or spell save DC by 1.
Arcane Vitality
At 6th level you gain the ability to use your life sacrificing to assist you spell casting in other ways. You can now sacrifice hp to gain sorcery points. When you sacrifice hp to gain sorcery points, you gain 1 sorcery point per 3 hp you sacrificed. Also, when you roll hit dice to regain hit points during a short rest, you can expend one or more sorcery points to roll an addition hit die per two sorcery points expended. The additional hit dice rolled this way regain hit points as normal.
Sacrificial Resurgence
You have achieved great strides in understanding how you can use your sacrificed life to enhance your spell casting. Now at level 14, when you choose to sacrifice hp to cast spells you can sacrifice with a new maximum of 4 times your proficiency bonus. You can also now now spend 2 hp per +1 and sorcery point you want to gain.
Vital Essence
Your experience in using your own life to enhance your magic powers has allowed you to reach goals you never thought could be possible. Now at level 18, when you sacrifice hp using your sacrificial surge ability, you gain a number of temp hp equal to the amount of hp you spent. Additionally you can now cast spells through your own sacrifice. You can cast spells without using spell slots by sacrificing a number of hp equal to 4 times the spell level rather than using the associated spell slot.
