Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

As a child, you played with your reflection in the mirror, which spoke to you on its own when others were not around. Although you grew up, your reflection still takes the form of your childhood self from time to time—a form that has matured in knowledge over the years but remained young in form, all while growing both more vain and more curious about the world outside the mirrors. Through the guidance of your reflection, you have learned to gaze into the Seeming on the surfaces of mirrors and to perceive there what others cannot.

Change Notes: This sub-class is a reskinned and slightly modified version of the Genie Patron subclass. The Change Notes attached to each feature detail how the feature differs from the Genie Patron feature at each level (mostly just flavor text). Overall, this class focuses on divination magic instead of elemental magic, and is intended to be appropriate for a warlock whose magic is themed around scrying in mirrors and projecting illusions.

Expanded Spell List

1st-level Vain Child feature

The Vain Child lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The Vain Spells table shows the spells that are added to the warlock spell list for you.

Spell Level Vain Spells
1st detect evil and good, color spray
2nd see invisibility, detect thoughts
3rd clairvoyance, nondetection
4th arcane eye, phantasmal killer
5th commune, mislead

Change Notes: This spell list is entirely different from that of the Genie Patron, whose extended spell list depends on the kind of Genie chosen and, as a bonus, includes wish at warlock level 17.

Mirror Mirror

1st-level Vain Child feature

Your patron gifts you a silver hand-mirror that grants you a measure of the Child's power. The mirror is a Tiny object, and you can use it as a spellcasting focus for your warlock spells. You decide what the mirror looks like. While you are touching the mirror, you can use it in the following ways:

Into the Mirror Realm. As an action, you can magically vanish and enter your mirror, which remains in the space you left. The interior of the mirror is an extradimensional space between the Plane of Mirrors and the plane you departed with the same appearance as the location you departed, and you cannot travel beyond the limits of what you were able to see in the mirror when you entered it. The interior is a comfortable temperature, and you may manifest simple furniture like tables and cushions while there. While in the mirror, you can hear the area outside your mirror as if you were in its space. You can remain inside the mirror up to a number of hours equal to twice your proficiency bonus. You exit the mirror early if you use a bonus action to leave, if you die, or if the mirror is destroyed. When you exit the mirror, you appear in the unoccupied space closest to it. Any objects left in the mirror remain there until carried out, and if the mirror is destroyed, every object stored there harmlessly appears in the unoccupied spaces closest to the mirror's former space. Once you enter the mirror, you can’t enter again until you finish a long rest.

Child’s Wrath. Once during each of your turns when you hit with an attack roll, you can deal extra psychic damage to the target equal to your proficiency bonus.

The mirror's AC equals your spell save DC. Its hit points equal your warlock level plus your proficiency bonus, and it is immune to poison and psychic damage.

If the mirror is destroyed or you lose it, you can perform a 1-hour ceremony to receive a replacement from your patron. This ceremony can be performed during a short or long rest, and the previous mirror is destroyed if it still exists. The mirror vanishes when you die.

Change Notes: This feature differs from the Genie's Vessel feature of the Genie patron in two ways. (1) The flavor text has been changed. (2) The Child's Wrath sub-feature deals psychic damage instead of bludgeoning, fire, cold, or thunder damage (depending on the Genie type), as specified by the Genie's Wrath feature.

Farsight

6th-level Vain Child feature

You may use any mirror or reflective surface (such as a still pool of water) as a spell focus for any divination spell list that you cast as long as you are within 5 feet of it and can see it (the mislead counts as a divination spell for this purpose). When you do so, you do not need to provide somatic or verbal components for the spell, and you only need to provide material components that are consumed by the spell. Instead, you must maintain eye contact with your reflection while casting the spell. If you cast a spell that provides remote viewing or remote audition using this feature, you are not blinded to your own senses if the spell typically requires this, and any creature of your choice within 30 feet of the mirror can see and hear the remote data as if they had cast the spell.

Additionally, as an action you may cast the clairvoyance spell using this feature without spending a spell slot. You may cast clairvoyance in this way a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Change Notes: This feature replaces from the Genie Patron's Elemental Gift feature, which provides both resistance to one elemental damage type and the ability to fly and hover without concentration for 10 minutes at a time, proficiency bonus times per long rest. The original feature is quite powerful, so this replaced feature is intended to be similarly useful (but less combat oriented). Instead of 2–6 uses of concentration-free flight, this replacement feature grants the same number of free casts of clairvoyance. Instead of an elemental resistance, this feature lets the warlock share their remove viewing spells with the party and grants them free subtle casting of a divination spells.

Mirror Haven

10th-level Vain Child feature

When you enter your mirror via the Into the Mirror Realm feature, you can now choose up to five willing creatures that you can see within 30 feet of you, and the chosen creatures are drawn into the mirror with you.

As a bonus action, you can eject any number of creatures from the mirror, and everyone is ejected if you leave or die or if the mirror is destroyed. In addition, anyone (including you) who remains within the mirror for at least 10 minutes gains the benefit of finishing a short rest, and anyone can add your proficiency bonus to the number of hit points they regain if they spend any Hit Dice as part of a short rest there.

Change Notes: This feature differ's from the Genie Patron's Sanctuary Vessel feature only in its flavor text.

Through the Looking Glass

14th-level Vain Child feature

When you cast any spell that grants remote vision or remote audition using your Farsight feature, you and anyone included in your use of Farsight are instead granted both audition and vision, and anyone viewing the spell retains the use of any special senses they have such as darkvision or truesight.

Additionally, when you are concentrating on the clairvoyance spell or the arcane eye spell, you may magically transport yourself to the location of the spell's scrying orb, ending the spell in the process. If the spell was cast using your Farsight feature, you may additionally bring any willing creature who can also see the remote location due to the spell with you. Once you have used this feature in this way, you may not do so again until you finish a long rest.

Change Notes: This feature replaces the Genie Patron's Limited Wish feature, which grants the warlock the ability to cast any spell of level 6 or lower from any spell list for free once per 1d4 long rests. This Genie feature is broadly considered one of the most powerful warlock features in the game. This replacement feature, on the other hand, is very similar to the Fathomless Patron's Fathomless Plunge feature, which allows the warlock to teleport the party to a watery location within a mile. Because clairvoyance has a range of 1 mile and the scrying orb of an arcane eye spell initially appears at the caster's location and must be moved into position at a speed of 30 feet per round, this cannot be used as a long range teleport. This feature also requires more than an action to use, so it is less of a combat spell but with the benefit of being a more precise teleport.
