Base Class: Sorcerer
Your innate magic comes from the highly controversial school of necromancy. Maybe your parents were noble Necromancers, maybe you extensively studied the school of necromancy, or maybe even had a close encounter with the Undead. Whatever you choose your origin to be, your powers are death-defying dark magicks fueled with souls of the dead.
A Necrotic Sorcerer can manipulate the Undead in a way no other Necromancer can. Such sorcerers are able to contort the bodies of their thralls in a way that allows them to conjoin with each other, forming Golems of Flesh and Bone - tough creatures that even the most powerful Paladins and Clerics fear.
At later levels, you find yourself so in sync with death that nothing can stop your balance between the world of the living and the world of the dead. No one can strike you down with instant-killing abilities/spells or deal radiant damage against you. Not even Gods.
Necrotic Sorcery
1st-level Necrotic Sorcery feature
You learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the Necrotic Sorcery table. Each of these spells counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of sorcerer spells you know.
Necrotic Sorcery Spells
| Sorcerer Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 1st | inflict wounds, false life |
| 3rd | ray of enfeeblement, gentle repose |
| 5th | animate dead, revivify |
| 7th | vitriolic sphere, blight |
|
9th |
contagion, raise dead |
Master of Death
At level 10, you learn the circle of death spell. It doesn't count against the number of sorcerer spells you know, can be cast without possessing its adequate spell slot level, and is always prepared. In case you don't have the neccessary spell slot level to cast it, you can use this spell once per long rest.
In addition to all the features above, consult the Necromancer Flavour table and choose or randomly determine a way your connection to necromancy manifests in your everyday life.
Necromancer Flavour
| d6 | Manifestation |
|---|---|
| 1 | Void-black tentacles emerge from behind you, holding your spellcasting focus while you cast spells. |
| 2 | Your eyes noticeably glow a chosen shade of green. |
| 3 | Your skin is pale white, but remains completely pure, unable to be dirtied. |
| 4 | Your body looks like it's rotting away, but the negative effects that come with it aren't there. |
| 5 | Your voice has a noticeable ring to it. It echoes with slight reverb, giving the impression of a choir of dead souls repeating your words. |
| 6 | The wails of the dead or croaking ravens can be heard by you and those affected by your magic. |
Undead Affinity
1st-level Necrotic Sorcery feature
You can interfere with an undead creature when it attempts to harm you. When an undead targets you directly with an attack or a harmful spell that requires an attack roll, you can use a reaction to impose disadvantage on that attack roll.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Empowered Necromancy
6th-level Necrotic Sorcery feature
Starting at 6th level, when you cast a necromancy spell that requires an attack roll, you can spend 1 sorcery point to gain advantage on the attack roll.
Additionally, necrotic damage dealt by your sorcerer spells ignores resistance to necrotic damage.
Golem of Flesh and Bone
14th-level Necrotic Sorcery feature
Starting at 14th level, you can expend one sorcerer spell slot as an action to create a number of undead servanst. For each level of spell slot you expended, choose a pile of bones or a corpse of a Medium or Small humanoid within 10 feet of you, to a maximum of four piles. You can then combine the four creatures into one, huge blob of rotting flesh and bone. The Golem combines the HP and damage dice of all the creatures contained within it.
This equals to around 80 HP and a damage dice of 4d6 + 4.
He moves separately from the Necrotic Sorcerer, but obeys all of his commands.
The golem has a walking speed of 30ft, and his stats are all neutral (+0 modifiers).
Additionally, he has disadvantage on initiative rolls.
He can attack twice during his turn as a bonus action.
The second attack deals 2d6 damage.
Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.
Death Incarnate
18th-level Necrotic Sorcery feature
You are immune to all radiant damage and insta-kill effects, such as power word kill.
Nothing can bypass these immunities.
