Base Class: Monk
A quiet man leaves a burning crypt, leaving nothing but chaos in his wake. The lone woman takes a barrage of blows from a seemingly incomparably powerful being, only to return the force tenfold.
As a monk of the Way of Entropy, on your path to enlightenment, you will chase after beings, places, and objects that gather and assimilate power, wealth, or knowledge in order to add them back into the natural chaos. The natural order of things is and should always be equally divided between everything and everyone, as the natural order of things strive for entropy, and you will ensure that this chaotic division remains intact.
Welcoming chaos
3rd-level Way of Entropy feature
You gain proficiency in the Insight and Perception skills, as you are starting to understand and see the imbalance present in the world around you. You also learn to store the abundance of energy assaulting you in your entropic storage. You determine the form of your entropic storage or generate it randomly by rolling on the form of Entropy table. The aspect of your storage appears as soon as you gain a charge in it.
Form of Entropy
| d6 | storage Appearance |
|---|---|
| 1 | Orbs of fire and ice form in a circle behind you. For each point of entropy collected another orb adds to the pile, keeping the balance between ice and fire. |
| 2 | Black and white marks or spots appear on your skin. The amount and area increase with your charges stored. |
| 3 | Your very being starts glowing, while not emitting light. Your skin becomes more and more incandescent with each charge gained. |
| 4 | Wounds appear on your body, only to reheal seconds later. Additional charges will add to the amount of appearing and disappearing wounds. |
| 5 | Runic circles appear around your limbs. Each charge of entropy adds more rings. |
| 6 | A bell starts ringing periodically. Each charge of entropy stored adds to the tune. |
Entropic storage
3rd-level Way of Entropy feature
Your sense of imbalance and the natural chaotic order of things allows you to siphon off energy when attacking or being attacked, using your opponents or your own power. You can reuse the stored energy for later purposes and distribute it into the world as it should be.
As entropy dictates the stored energy needs to be dissipated and distributed eventually. Any entropy charges gained dissipate after 10 minutes, this duration increases to 1 hour upon reaching level 6 in this subclass and to 2 hours upon reaching level 11.
Collect
3rd-level Way of Entropy feature
When you take damage, expend Ki or succeed at an ability check or saving throw you gain 1 entropy charge, once per turn.
- Collect - Reactive: You use your knowledge of entropy to siphon energies from an attack against you. When a creature damages you, you can use your reaction to reduce the damage taken by two rolls of your Martial Arts die, granting you 1 entropic charge.
- Collect - Aggresive: By siphoning off the excess energy and power you use in your attacks and maneuvers, you can store this wasted potential for later use, gaining 1 entropy charge if you spend Ki once per turn.
- Collect - Success: You gain 1 entropy charge when succeeding in a saving throw or ability check. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
Disperse
3rd-level Way of Entropy feature
You can choose to use your stored Entropy points to gain certain benefits at different levels:
- you can expend one entropy charge to gain an additional 1d4 to attack rolls until the start of your next round (Level 3)
- You can expend one entropy charge to gain an additional 1d4 to ability checks for 1 minute (Level 3)
- You can expend one entropy charge to cast the absorb elements spell as a free action (Level 6)
- You can expend 3 entropy charges to cast fly for 1 minute, this version of fly does not require concentration (Level 11)
Extended Chaos
6th-level Way of Entropy feature
Your entropy charges last for 1 hour now.
You gain a ranged variant for your unarmed strikes. This ranged variant works identical to your normal unarmed attack for the purpose of using other monk features that require unarmed attacks.
These ranged attacks do not get disadvantage if a creature is within 5 feet of you.
You can augment your strikes to deal an additional 1d4 extra damage of a type of your choosing (Fire, Cold, Lightning, Acid, Psychic)
Expert of entropy
11th-level Way of Entropy feature
Your entropic charges last for 2 hours.
You gain 1 charge of entropy for each round of active combat. Upon rolling initiative, you immediately gain 1 entropy charge.
Once per turn when you expend entropy, you can muddle the mind of your enemies granting you one of the following effects:
- All enemies within 10 feet of you have to make a Wisdom saving throw against your Ki save DC or become feared for one minute. Affected creatures can repeat this save at the end of their turn
- All enemies within 10 feet of you have to make an Intelligence saving throw against your Ki save DC or become confused for one minute. Affected creatures can repeat this save at the end of their turn
- All enemies within 10 feet of you have to make a Strength saving throw against your Ki save DC or fall prone, and have their movement speed reduced to 0 until the end of your next turn.
Equilibrium
17th-level Way of Entropy feature
Your body has become the perfect vessel of equilibrium, making it possible to even the playing field if the situation calls for it. You can expend entropy charges up to the maximum of charges you have currently stored to either heal any allies within 60 feet by 1d8 per entropy charge expended or harm your enemies with 1d8 force damage per entropy charge used. Your mastery of life energy opens the door to the ultimate mercy.
You can freely distribute the uses of these dies, e.g. you use 6 charges of entropy, giving you 6d8 to expend, you can either deal 6d8 of force damage to all enemies, heal all your party members for 6d8 or use as an example 2d8 to heal your allies and 4d8 to harm your enemies.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest. You can expend 3 Ki points to regain the use of this feature.
