Base Class: Monk

A man wades into a battle field, calm in his  quite contemplation, his eyes locked onto  a monstrous beast, the rest of his friends look to be in dire straights. He idly rubs his prayer beads choosing a  jade one cut into the shape of a wise turtle, he focuses  his shape being enveloped with Ki, gaining the ethereal aspects of  the turtle, a shimmer shield of Ki fortifies him, as he rushes forward,  with each hit, the shield gains renewed vigor, he points to  bloodied ally,  granting them part of his  shell, they stand with the same vigor.

Satisfied with his work, the same man grasps a orange Carnelian cut into a fierce effigy of a tiger, his  ki explodes with a howling growl, gain  ethereal claws sharper than Elven steel, his body Wreathed in orange ki,  each strike dealing more than the last.


 

A female of half-elven decent, walks through a lair of a dragon, taking point for her group, he glancing about only seeing her reflections in the ice covered walls, she fiddles with her necklace,  grasping a bead made out of lapis lazuli, carved into the image of a  raging bear, as they approach a massive frozen wall stands between them and their quarry, she grasping her bead, pleads to the spirits." help me overcome this." she whispers, and the spirits answer with but two words. "Overwhelming Force"  her form changes  becoming bulky and strong, she  backs up and rushes headlong into the wall, bashing into it with her ki empowered fists, shattering the wall, in a few blows.

She then grasp onto a crimson bead, craved into a bird-like face, her body becomes wreathed in flames, gaining wings, the ice starting to melt around her, she is like a beacon of flame. hovering off the ground she  lights the way.


 

 All things are possible when you  have the spirits on your side, an elderly monk says to his new students, having finished his stories.

Entreatment of the Spirit

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, your mediation with the spirits which govern your order, can give you insights  which a normal person would  miss or overlook. You gain one skill of your choice from the following: Arcana, History, Nature, and Survival. In addition, at 5th level, you also learn to speak with the spirits of mortal races, you learn the spell Speak with the dead, which must be cast as a ritual, this can be done once  per long rest.

You gain additional skill proficiency from the above list at 11th and 17th level. If you already have proficiency in one of the listed skills at 11th or 17th level, you can instead choose to double your proficiency bonus for any ability check you make that uses the chosen proficiency.

Embodiment of the Spirit

At 3rd level, you gain the ability to choose two of the following options, for spirit stance's. You gain additional stance's at level 7, and 11.

You gain access to a powerful altered form at the cost of 1 KI the effects last 1 minute unless noted otherwise.

Ferocity of Tiger- while in this stance your Ki explodes, into an orange cloak, changing your unarmed strikes to slashing, in addition, Whenever you hit a single creature with one of the attacks granted by your Flurry of Blows, the target is considered Rended  the target must make a Con save against your Ki save DC, or take  1d10 slashing on the start of their next turn.

Tenacity of the Turtle-  while in this stance your ki envelopes you in a protective shell of green ki, Whenever you hit a single creature with one of the attacks granted by your Flurry of Blows, you gain temporary hp equal to half the damage dealt by that attack.

Rage of the Bear- while in this stance your ki crackles with rage, your fists are laced with blue ki, Whenever you hit a single creature with one of the attacks granted by your Flurry of Blows, you can add your strength mod to your attacks as well as dexterity.

Fury of the Phoenix- While in this stance your ki springs to life , you gain wings,though you may only hover off the ground. You can choose to shed bright light 10-ft 10-ft dim light. in addition, Whenever you hit a single creature with one of the attacks granted by your Flurry of Blows, the creature takes a monk die as fire.

Animal  Spirits you call on might be an animal related to those listed here but more appropriate to your homeland. For example, you could choose a wolf or panther in place of an Tiger.

 

Patience of mind and body

At 6th level, you gain a deeper understanding of the spirits you entreat, you gain access to the following:

Ferocity of Tiger-  Whenever you hit are struck by an attack or spell while in the dodge action granted by Patience defense, you may make a free reaction to attack the target applying the Rended status to the target if it hits, this can be done  a number of times equal to your Dexterity mod (minimum of 1) per short rest

Tenacity of the Turtle-  Whenever an ally is struck by an attack or spell while you are in the dodge action granted by Patience defense, you may use your reaction to give them  your shield granted by this stance. 

Rage of the Bear- Whenever you are struck by an attack or spell while in the dodge action granted by Patience defense, you may make a reaction to attack the target, if this attack hits you can impose a stunning strike, the target has disadvantage on the save. This can be done  a number of times equal to your  Strength mod (minimum of 1)

Fury of the Phoenix- Whenever you  are struck by an attack or spell while in the dodge action granted by Patience defense, you may make a reaction to  burn foes who hit you, until the start of your next turn, attacks and spells that hit you deal your monk level in fire damage to the target,  this damage may only be dealt once to each target, and only a number of times equal to your Wis mod (minimum of one) per short rest. 

 

Swiftness of the Spirit

Starting at 11th level , you gain additional benefits while step of the wind is active, based on the stance you are in.

 Ferocity of Tiger-  while step of the wind is active, you can use two unarmed attacks on your turn, these follow the same rules that are governed in other sections of tiger stance.

Tenacity of the Turtle- if your movement where to provoke an opportunity attack, the attack has disadvantage, and if it still hits, you gain a temp hp equal to the half damage taken, additionally you gain resistance slashing piercing, or bludgeoning while  the temp hp of turtle stance holds.  this resistance effect applies to your ally if they where given your shield.

Rage of the Bear- you next attack made while Step of the wind is active, causes extra damage per 10ft you travel to the target. 1d4 per 10ft, additionally you may impose a Strength save to shove the target back  on fail.

Fury of the Phoenix- you can fly while Step of the wind is active, you attacks also are ranged with a 30/60  and deal fire damage.

Harmony of body and spirit

At 17th level, you gain the ability to fuse two stances together, and push past the limits of your body. While not in a stance, you can use an action to take up the mantel of two stances at once, gaining the effects of both, this only last a number of round  equal to your Wis mod ( minim of 1)

While in any stance you may invoke a destructive  series of blows into a target, as a action, you may spend 3 ki  two make the target make a Con save, on fail they take 5d10 force damage + monk level. this then ends your stance and gives you one level of exhaustion. however if it kills the target you gain 2 ki and do not take the level of exhaustion.
