Monk
Base Class: Monk

Way of the Spoken Word

Far away, high in the passes and peaks of the mountings of the endless sands, an order of Monks study the finest deatails of reality, and it's affects on the beings of the world. They train with meticulous focus on the mind and body to atomise thought and feeling, action and reaction, until they have mastery over each imperceptable part. Monks of the way of the Spoken Word use their ki to perform incredible feats of concentration and subtle control, producing abilities that are more Hyper-Normal, rather than superhuman.

The Weirding Voice

Starting when you choose this traditional at 3rd level, you begin training in Voice. By channelling ki followers of this tradition can use the tone, timbre and inflection to issue commands on a subconscious level, compelling obedience in others that they cannot resist.

As an action, you can spend 2 ki points to cast Suggestion, Calm Emotions, Crown of Madness, Hold person, or Zone of Truth without providing material components. Additionally you gain the guidance cantrip if you don’t already know it.

Prescience

At 3rd level, through a moment of intense perception you gain the ability to briefly see into the future of an opponent whenever you channel ki.

When you use your flurry of blows or patient defence ability, you may choose to roll a d20. On your next turn, the roll of this dice replaces the first attack roll you make, or the first dice roll if you have advantage or disadvantage.

Discard the roll at the end of your next turn. You may use this ability twice, and regain all uses after a long or short rest.

Prana Nervature

At 6th Level, you gain the ability to control not just your recognition of pain, but your body’s nerves reaction to it down to individual synapses.

Whenever you take damage, you may choose to reduce the damage taken by a value equal to your Wisdom Modifier and contain it within a separate compartment of pain.

During a Short Rest, you must heal all of this damage using hit dice, or suffer the remaining damage as soon as the Short Rest ends.

You can fall unconscious through this method as normal.

Acute Observation

Followers of this tradition no longer rely entirely on sight to ‘see’ the world around them. Instead they have developed an intense hyperawareness, such as slight shifts in air currents, hairs lifting on a person's arm, or a single mote of dust knocked aside by an invisible form.

At 11th level, you gain Blindsight (30ft) and add your proficiency modifier to perception checks (If you are already proficient, that bonus is added twice).

Additionally, whenever you use your Patient Defence ability, you may add your proficiency modifier to your AC.

The Weirding Way

At 17th Level, you have truly learned to believe that what you wish to happen, already has; by imagining an action has occurred, your knowledge and training will make it so. As such you move with power, precision and speed no others can match.

As an action, you may move up to half your speed. During this movement:

  • You do not provoke opportunity attacks.
  • You may spend a ki point to perform one flurry of blows against a target you move adjacent to, up to a maximum of 3 different targets.
  • You land a critical hit on a roll of 18 or more.

You regain the use of this ability whenever you roll for initiative
