Monks of the Way of the Chain have mastered the use of chained weapons, which involves close and ranged combat. They learn techniques to shape the chained weapons they use, allowing them to harness the ki within them to inflict brutal elemental damage to their enemies and the world around them

Chain Technique

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can use your key to manipulate the way your chained weapons can attack. You can spend one key point to imbue one of your attacks with the following effects. 

Precision strike: gain advantage on the attack roll

Returning strike: if making a ranged attack, the chained weapon with return to your hand 

Flurry of Chains: your combat attacks with chained weapons count as unarmed strikes, allowing you to use your chained weapons during your flurry of blows. 

Spirit of the Chain

At 6th level, you gain the ability to imbue your chains with elemental energy, you may spend a Ki point to imbue your chained weapon with the following elemental energies, and gain the following bonuses. 

Flaming Chain: 

You may spend a Ki point to imbue your chained weapon with the burning flames of your inner passion, your chained weapon attacks deal an extra 1D4 fire damage, and are resistant to fire damage, this effect last for 1 minute. 

Frozen Chain: 

You may spend a Ki point to imbue your chained weapon with the freezing cold of your isolation, your chained weapon attacks deal an extra 1D4 ice damage, and you are resistant to cold damage, this effect lasts for 1 minute 

Earthen Chain: 

You may spend one Ki point to imbue your chained weapon with the earthen strength of your resolve, you deal an extra 1D4 bludgeoning damage, you are also resistant to bludgeoning damage, this effect lasts 1 minute. 

 

Chain Defense

By the 11th level, you have learned to become one with the weapon you wield. Your chains wrap around your body giving you an AC of 12 + your Dexterity modifier + your Wisdom modifier when you are not wearing any armor. 

Furry of the Chain

At 17th level, you have learned to master the ways of the elements and have become one with the chain. You may spend a Ki point to make a ranged or close combat attack and instantly grapple the target of the attack to the ground, the target must succeed a strength saving throw each turn or take 2d6 damage of the element you chose. You may also approach the target and pass judgment of the chain onto them.   

Judgment of the Chain: 

When the target of Furry of the Chain is grappled by the effect and you approach the target, you look into the target's eyes and peer into their soal, the target must make a Constitution saving throw, if they fail they take 10D10 damage of the elemental effect of Furry of the Chain, if they succeed they take 5D10 of the same damage
