Base Class: Wizard

Most magical academies have an area of study frowned upon or reserved for advanced learning and a restricted section containing information forbidden except where circumstance demand it. The Quills of Senec, spies and information brokers who collect information about the rest of Altoras and share… most of it with the courts of the world have a collection of all forbidden secrets. You are either an exceptionally well trusted member of Senecii society to be granted stewardship of such knowledge or more likely, a furious intellect refusing to be denied the hidden truths of your reality.

Delayed Magical Healing

2nd-level Forbidden Section Feature

Due to your occult field of study that disconnects you from reality, magical healing effects heal you one round after the effect would normally be applied. You recieve the healing at the start of the turn of whoever applied the magical healing effect, or at the start of your next turn if you drank a healing potion or otherwise magically healed yourself on your turn.

Forbidden Focus

2nd-level Forbidden Section Feature

At 2nd level, you no longer require the use of an arcane focus to cast your wizard spells, instead relying on your own mind to alter reality. You also gain unique access to the Forbidden Spell List, which require you to first focus your mind as an action during combat before you can cast them. Holding your focus requires concentration. Casting a forbidden spell expends your focus.

Forbidden Spell List

You gain access to additional spells when you reach certain wizard levels, as shown on the Forbidden Spells table. Each of these spells are added to the list of spells you can scribe into your spellbook when you gain a wizard level or copy from a scroll. These spells all use your reaction and have set triggers to cast them. The one exception is Karmic Rebuke, which you gain now as an bonus cantrip and it takes a bonus action to cast.

This bonus lasts for the duration, but is suppressed while you are holding concentration on your focus. The brace ends if you are not holding focus and are hit by an attack or fail a saving throw.

Brain-Melting Secrets

10th-level Forbidden Section Feature

At 10th level, When you hit an enemy with a spell attack that deals psychic damage or an enemy fails a saving throw against a spell of yours that deals psychic damage, the creature is frightened of you until the end of their next turn.

Superior Rebuke

14th-level Forbidden Section Feature

Immediately after expending your focus to cast a spell as a reaction, roll a d20 afterward. On a natural 16–20, you can also cast Karmic Rebuke as a free action, using that roll in place of the attack roll. You can use this feature again during a later round in the battle once you have your focus again.
