Base Class: Monk
As you make your monk character, think about what caused them to practice the Way of the Invisible Hand. Usual practitioners of this branch of martial arts are similar to people who use the mystic arts and the power of their mind to influence the world around them.
Differentiating from those kind of people, Way of the Invisible Hand monks train their bodies and minds for years and learn to push their ki out of their body, manipulating objects and beings from afar. Similar to monks who transform their ki to produce different elements, Way of the Invisible Hand transform their ki even further, morphing it to to an ethereal force of solidified will.
Many monks of this tradition usually have a small tattoo on their palms, foreheads, navel or chest. The tattoo is done as the monks are initiated to the monastery, to aid them gathering their ki in one point on their body and help them push it out.
Invisible Hand Technique
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can manipulate your ki in a much more versatile manner. As a bonus action on your turn, you may spend 1 ki point and manifest two small ethereal hands for 1 minute, the hands appear within 10ft of you. Whenever you take the attack action on your turn, you may forgo any amount of attacks to instead attack with the summoned hands.
- At level 3, the hands can only be used for attacking when they are within 10ft of you. The maximum distance the arms are efficient in combat grows as your unarmed strike dice increases.
- Instead of your normal martial arts damage type, the hands deal force damage.
- The ethereal hands require no concentration and they stay within their maximum distance of you unless you move them (no action required) You can move both hands at will, they have a speed equal to half your movement speed.
- The hands are not physical and as such, can't hold weapons and aside from attacking, can't otherwise interact with objects.
- In addition, you learn the cantrip Mage Hand. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for this spell.
Concentrated Power of Will
At 6th level, you gain the ability to temporarily empower your ethereal hands. Provided you have your ethereal hands summoned, as an action, choose 2 targets that are within your reach. The targets must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or become paralyzed for 1 minute as your ethereal hands force themselves into the targets body, stopping them in their tracks. At the end of each of their turns, the targets can make another Wisdom saving throw. On a success, the effect ends on the target and the hand is propelled out of their body. You can use this feature a number of times equal to 1 + your Wisdom modifier. When you finish a long rest, you regain all expended uses.
Protective Force
Beginning at 11th level, as a reaction to an attack, you briefly summon a sphere of force to diminish the incoming damage. The sphere has a radius of 15ft and is centered on you. The sphere blocks all incoming damage for creatures inside of it. If the sphere cuts through a creature's space when it appears, the creature is pushed to one side of the sphere(your choice which side). You have one use of this ability and regain the use whenever you finish a short or long rest.
In addition, you learn the spell Wall of Force and may cast it at will once per long rest.
Smashing Palms
At 17th level, you gain the ability to set up lethal vibrations from your hands. As an action you may spend 5 ki points to smash your hands together and send forth a wave of your ki energy.
Creatures in a 90ft cone must succeed in a Constitution saving throw or take 10d10 Force damage and be stunned for 1 round. On a success they only take half of the damage.
You may use this skill from your ethereal hands, provided you have them summoned.
In addition, you learn the spell Arcane Hand and can cast it at its lowest level once per long rest.
