Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

In the darkest corners of the Planes of Existence lurks cunning and powerful entities of gloomy shadow — often malevolent entities who wield darkness itself as a weapon and manipulate the fears of mortals to further their own secret goals. For one reason or another, you’ve entered into a pact with such an entity.

Entities that forge such pacts range from powerful fiends like the demon prince Graz'zt to the Shadowfell’s mysterious Shade Lords to Fedine, the Legacy of Darkness.

Shadow Sight

Beginning at 1st level, you can peer through darkness. You gain 60 feet of darkvision. If you already possess darkvision, its range is instead extended by 30 feet. With this darkvision, you can see through magical darkness as if it was dim light.

Call Darkness

Also at 1st level, you can siphon dark energy from the Shadowfell to call forth pockets of shadow. As an action, you can conjure a 10-foot-radius sphere of magical darkness at a point you can see within 60 feet of you. The darkness spreads around corners, a creature with darkvision can’t see through it and non-magical light can’t illuminate it. As a bonus action, you can move the sphere of darkness up to 30 feet in a direction of your choice.

The sphere lasts for 10 minutes, until you dismiss it on your turn (requires no action by you), or until you are killed.

You can use this feature once per short- or long rest.

Dark Apparition

At 6th level, you can step through darkness and catch your foes unaware. As a bonus action, you can teleport to an unoccupied space you can see within 30 feet of you. If a creature is within 5 feet of the space you appear in, you can force it to make a Wisdom saving throw. If the creature is standing in an area of dim light or darkness, or if you were hidden from the creature before teleporting, it makes its saving throw with disadvantage. On a failed save, the creature is frightened of you until the beginning of your next turn. A creature frightened in this way is considered to have line of sight to you as long as you can see it.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.

Dreadful Visage

At 10th level, you are a living nightmare, stirring fear in the hearts and minds of your foes. You are immune to the frightened condition and whenever a creature attempts to frighten you, you can use your reaction to force it to make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is frightened of you for 1 minute. It can reroll its saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the condition on a successful save.

You can use this feature once per short- or long rest.

Shadow Form

At 14th level, you can tap into the malicious darkness of the Shadowfell to take on the visage of one of its denizens. As an action, you can take on a terrifying shadow form for up to 10 minutes, until you’re unconscious, or until you choose to end it as a bonus action. For the duration, you gain the following features:

  • You have resistance to all damage, except radiant damage.
  • You have advantage on attack rolls against creatures that are frightened of you.
  • You gain a climbing speed equal to your walking speed, and can move up, down, and across vertical surfaces, as well as upside-down along ceilings, while leaving your hands free.
  • You can move through a space as narrow as 1-inch-wide without squeezing.
  • If you end your turn in dim light or darkness, you become invisible until you attack or force someone to make a saving throw, or until you enter an area of bright light.

You can use this feature once per long rest.
