Base Class: Paladin
Paladins of the Oath of the Hunter are holy retribution made manifest. With no regard for personal glory they become instruments of judgement, striking down the monstrous, the evil and the heretic in the name of a greater force than themselves.
The Oath of the Hunter is not one taken lightly. It is to let go of personal ambitions and become more. To enact the wrath of your order or deity upon those who have been condemned to it. Your tools are stealth, speed and the devastating might of the heavens. You are the hunter of the wicked and there can be no escape.
Paladins of this Oath are often devotees to hunting deities like Artemis and Ehlonna or those of retribution like Hoar. Others are members of orders of hunters dedicated to slaying the despicable or are lone paragons who follow their own path of justice, journeying to destroy all of those involved with some great wrongdoing.
Tenets of the Hunter
Paladins who take this oath use many differing versions but at their core they are unified in purpose.
Lose Ambition. I serve something more, the cause is greater than my desires.
Find the Prey. I will never give up on my hunt, no matter the obstacles I face.
Spare the Innocent. Judgement for the wicked, the good deserve protection.
Destroy the Evil. As a weapon of heaven, I bring retribution to the deserving.
Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.
Hunter's Grace. As an action, you utter a prayer of tracking. You target one creature you have seen within the last hour. The target must make a Wisdom saving throw. Creatures under the effect of your Hunter's Mark spell make the saving throw at disadvantage. On a failed save, you know its current location for the next 24 hours, or until you use this Channel Divinity option again. A creature whose challenge rating is equal to or greater than your paladin level is immune to this effect as are creatures immune to divination magic. If the target is on another plane when this action is performed it fails. You are aware of why it failed. The targeted creature cannot be selected as the target of this action again for the next 24 hours.
Meteoric Smite. As a bonus action, you can invoke the wrath of the heavens, using your Channel Divinity. Until the start of your next turn you can trigger your Divine Smite feature when you hit a creature with a ranged weapon attack.

Huntsman's Wrath
By 7th level, your ability to close in on your prey and enact holy wrath is masterful. When you hit a creature with a weapon attack and trigger your Divine Smite feature or the creature is under the effects of your Hunter's Grace or Hunter's Mark, you can move up to half your speed immediately afterwards without provoking opportunity attacks.
Aspect of Retribution
Starting at 15th level, you have mastered the two core principles of your Oath and gain one additional use of your Channel Divinity feature. Additionally, you can now substitute the stated action used in either of your Oath's Channel Divinity options with a Reaction.
Furthermore, whenever you hit a creature with a ranged weapon attack, the creature takes an extra 1d8 radiant damage.
Avatar of Judgement
At 20th level, you gain the ability to fully let go of your mortal ambitions for a time and become a perfect vessel for heaven's wrath. As a bonus action, you can become an avatar of judgement, gaining the following benefits for 1 minute:
- You can trigger your Divine Smite feature when you hit a creature with a ranged weapon attack.
- Whenever you hit a creature with a weapon attack, the creature takes an extra 1d8 radiant damage.
- Creatures whose challenge rating are equal to or greater than your paladin level are no longer immune to the effect of your Hunter's Grace Channel Divinity option. Additionally, creatures that are immune to divination magic are no longer immune to your Hunter's Grace Channel Divinity option's effect and instead make the saving throw at advantage.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
