Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

The arcane artist channels their magic through paintings, drawings and art tools. As arcane artists are known for aiding their allies with mighty, spell-infused paintings and incredible inspiration, they are always welcome amidst a party that is in dire need of magical support.

Magic Paintings

You can infuse any ordinary paints with magic. During rests or downtime, you can magically paint spell scrolls of spells you already know for a reduced cost.

Spell scrolls now cost two levels less gold and one level less crafting time to be crafted, and you can ignore material components without a gold value.

Scrolls requiring less than 15 gold with this feature require 5 gold pieces, and scrolls requiring less than one day of crafting with this feature now require one long rest, or one short rest for cantrips.

Additionally, these spells can be cast by anyone, even if the spell isn't on the caster's spell list. However, casters other than you must succeed on an Arcana check with a DC of 8+the level of the spell, or become unable to use that particular scroll until they have completed a long rest. On a 1, the spell fails and the scroll crumbles. The spellcasting ability for these scrolls is intelligence, unless the user possesses a different spellcasting ability.

Arcane Art Supplies

Also at 2nd level, you gain proficiency with painter's supplies and one additional type of musical instrument or artisan's tool. You can use either tool or instrument as an arcane focus for your wizard spells.

Paint Familiar

You gain the ability to paint the form of a tiny creature and summon it forth from the page to act as a familiar for 1 minute, until your concentration is broken, or until dismissed. The painted creature appears however the artist intended, though appears to be comprised of paint, and uses the Cat stat block, but with a base walking speed of 20 feet and 1 HP. It can’t be summoned in liquids other than paint, and is destroyed immediately upon contact with liquids other than paint. When dismissed, the creature bursts and leaves behind a mess of paint, unless it is allowed to return to the page it was painted on.

Additionally, the familiar can be painted with one of the following features:

Winged: The familiar gains a flying speed of 40 feet and can hover.

Clawed: The familiar gains a climbing speed of of 40 feet.

Quadrupedal: Familiar gains a walking speed of 40 feet and doesn’t provoke opportunity attacks, but lacks hands.

Diminished size: The familiar is as small as a mouse, and can fit into spaces 1 inch wide, and gains advantage on stealth checks.

This familiar can’t attack, but can use it’s action to make an acrobatics check and leap onto the face of a medium-sized or smaller creature within 5 feet and burst, blinding the creature for 1 minute, or until it uses it’s action to wipe away the paint. The DC for this check is equal to 10 plus the challenge rating of the creature.

This familiar can be summoned a number of times equal to your intelligence modifier (min. 1) per long rest.

Spark of Genius

At 6th level, you draw inspiration from everything around you and gain inspiration from other magic user's methods. Choose two spells from the bard spell list and add them to your spell book. A spell you choose must be of a level you can cast, as shown on the Wizard table, or a cantrip. The chosen spells count as wizard spells for you and you need to prepare them as you would any other wizard spell.

Colorful Markings

Beginning at 10th level, you can assist your allies by marking enemies with your artistic talents. As a bonus action choose one creature within 60 feet of you, the creature must succeed on a dexterity saving throw or be marked by a glowing color or symbol of your choosing for 1 minute or until the marked creature uses its action to clean the mark off.

The marked creature has disadvantage on stealth checks, can not become invisible, attacks made against the marked target have advantage and score a critical hit on a 19 or 20. The mark glows until the start of your next turn.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your intelligence modifier per long rest.

Arcane Impressionist

You have mastered arcane painting, and can now paint magical impressions of your spells on surfaces. As a bonus action, you can target a surface you can see within 60 feet of you to expend a spell slot and magically paint an impression of a spell on it. The spell slot used corresponds to the spell slot used to cast the spell normally. The surface must be relatively flat with an unobstructed area of 1+the spells level x 3 square feet.

Arcane Impressions are destroyed when you move more than 120 feet away from them, or after 24 hours have passed.

You can only cast spells that you have prepared as Arcane Impressions. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your intelligence modifier+your proficiency bonus, but you subtract a number of uses each time equal to the level of the spell cast.

Concentration

When casting impressions of spells that require concentration, you must begin concentration when you activate the impression. If an impression is activated while you are concentrating on a spell, the effects of the spell activate as they would normally during the current round, but end at the beginning of your next turn if you do not choose to concentrate on the spell cast from the impression.

Triggering An Impression

As a bonus action, you can trigger a number of spell impressions equal to half your intelligence modifier, rounded up. Triggering more than one spell impression uses all of your movement.

When a creature enters the same space as one of your impressions, you can use your reaction to trigger it. Alternatively, if an impression you have casted takes damage, you can roll a d20. If the result is less than 10, the impression is destroyed. On a critical failure, all of your active impressions are destroyed. If the result is 10 or over, the impression is triggered immediately. On a critical success, you can choose whether or not to trigger it, or to trigger another impression within 30 feet of the impression that took damage.
