Base Class: Monk
Way of the Flowing Magic Monks practice the ability to detect and control the magic flowing through all living creatures. When these monks focus their ki, they can detect spells that are effecting objects or creatures.
Magical Aptitude
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can manipulate your ki in order to detect any magical effects nearby as well as have an easier time understanding what they are. You gain the following benefits.
- Magical Proficiency: You gain proficiency in the arcana skill
- Magical Detection: You may spend 1 ki point to cast detect magic or may cast detect magic as a ritual without spending a ki point.
- Magical Deflection: You may use your deflect missiles reaction against spells that make a ranged spell attack roll as well as magic missile. (Ex. Scorching Ray, Eldritch Blast, Melf's Minute Meteors.)
Arcane Interception
Starting at 6th level, You have learned how to manipulate your ki in several forms to disrupt spells as well as interfere in the casting of spells. You gain the following benefits.
- Dispelling Strikes - When you touch a willing creature or object or strike an unwilling creature with an unarmed strike, you may spend 3 ki points to dispel a spell of 3rd level or lower. You may spend an extra ki point per spell level to dispel higher level spells. Does not effect spells or spell effects that cannot be dispelled by dispel magic.
- Interrupting Blast - When a creature within 60 feet of you casts a spell, you may use spend 3 ki points and use your reaction to cast counterspell using wisdom as your spellcasting modifier. You may spend extra an extra ki point per spell level to upcast [spell[counterspell[/spell] to the respective level.
Aura of Unimpeded Will
Beginning at 11th level, you have learned how to better protect yourself and your allies from spells.
As a bonus action, you may spend 4 ki to project an aura that covers a 10 foot radius around your position. This aura moves with you. Whilst inside this aura, you and any allied creatures gain advantage on any saving throws caused by a spell or spell effect. In addition, if you or an ally fails a saving throw whilst inside this aura, you may use your reaction and spend 5 ki to make them or yourself succeed the saving throw instead.
Magical Mastery
At 17th level, you have mastered the ability to weave magic around yourself as well as your enemies. You gain the following benefits.
- Improved Aura of Unimpeded Will - Your aura is improved. All spell attacks have disadvantage against you and your allies whilst you are inside of your aura.
- Disruption of the Weave - All creatures have disadvantage on maintaining their concentration on spells when hit by an unarmed strike or monk weapon by you.
- Fists of Absorption - When you use your Arcane Interception feature to dispel or counterspell a spell. Your unarmed strikes gain additional force damage equal to the level of the spell that was countered or dispelled until the end of your next turn. This effect does not stack with multiple uses of Magical Interception. If you use this feature while it is already active, the newer use overrides the older use no matter the level of the spell.
