Druid
Base Class: Druid

Druids of the Circle of Tempests revere the sky as one of nature's most powerful forces, giving life through rejuvenating rains, and just as quickly taking it with storms of epic proportions. The vastness of a storm front creeping over the horizon, the stillness within a hurricane's eye, and the uncontrollable power of its monsoon's gales are all attributes found within these bearers of the sky's majesty.

A druid that follows the circle of Tempests Recognizes the uncontrollable power held within the sky, simply channeling it in their preferred direction rather than attempting to control its rage. They often move wherever the wind takes them, letting the sky guide their path. Their visits can be boons, bringing rainstorms that provide crops with bountiful nutrients; or ill omens, spelling disaster for entire villages.

Directed Gale

2nd-level Circle of Tempests feature

You have minor control over the air around you, allowing you to shape its direction and intensity. You can use a bonus action to force a large or smaller creature to make a strength saving throw against your spell save DC, being pushed up to 10ft in a direction horizontal to you on a failure. The size of creature that you can push with this ability increases to huge at 6th level and gargantuan at 10th.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses of it when you finish a long rest.

Storm Attunement

2nd-level Circle of Tempests feature
You gain the ability to channel wind and weather into your very being. As an action, you can expend a use of your Wild Shape feature to cause intense winds to whip around you and lighting to dance across your body. Rather than transforming into a beast form, You gain 4 temporary hit points for each level you have in this class. While this feature is active, you gain the following benefits:

  • When you deal damage with a spell or melee weapon attack, you deal an extra 1d6 lightning damage to any target hit.
  • Once per turn, when you deal lightning or thunder damage with a spell or attack, you can cause lightning to leap from one creature that you damaged to another target within 15ft of the original creature, dealing 1d6 lightning damage.
  • Your Directed Gale ability can target two creatures and causes each to be pushed up 15ft on a failed save.

These benefits last for 10 minutes, until you lose all these temporary hit points, or until you use your Wild Shape again. The lightning damage from this ability increases to 1d8 at 10th level.

RULE TIP: TEMPORARY HIT POINTS DON'T STACK

If you have temporary hit points and receive more of them, you don’t add them together, unless a rule says you can. Instead, you decide which temporary hit points to keep. For more information on temporary hit points, see chapter 9 of the Player’s Handbook.

Circle Spells

3rd-level Circle of Tempests feature

Your link to weather and your ability to tap into the power of storms grants you access to certain spells. At 2nd level, you learn the shocking grasp cantrip as well as the 1st level spell thunderwave which is always prepared for you.

At 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th level you gain access to the spells listed for that level in the Circle of Tempests Spells table. Once you gain access to one of these spells, you always have it prepared, and it doesn’t count against the number of spells you can prepare each day. If you gain access to a spell that doesn’t appear on the druid spell list, the spell is nonetheless a druid spell for you.

Fulminous Leap

6th-level Circle of Tempests feature

Your command of lightning is masterful, allowing you to direct and ride a bolt of lightning. As a bonus action, you can teleport up to 30 ft to an unoccupied space you can see within range. Immediately when you arrive, each creature within 10 feet of you must make a dexterity saving throw taking thunder damage equal to your druid level on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses of it when you finish a long rest.

Winds of Change

10th-level circle of Tempests feature

You have become inured to the volatility of the sky, allowing you to guide and shape it to your will. You have resistance to Lightning and Thunder Damage.

In addition, when you finish a long rest you can alter one aspect of the weather as per the control weather spell, increasing or decreasing either wind, temperature, or precipitation by one degree. These effects last until the end of your next long rest.

Cataclysmic Soul

14th-level Circle of Tempests feature

You are one with the unending sky. You are able to lasso the wind and call down a maelstrom at a moments notice: You gain a flying speed of 60 feet and can add half your druid level to any lightning or thunder damage that you deal with a spell or attack while you are within a mile of active storm clouds.

In addition, you can cast chain lightning, without expending a spell slot or requiring material components. Once you cast it in this way, you cannot do so again until you complete a long rest.
