Paladin: Oath of Destiny

Paladins who swear the Oath of Destiny believe that they are guided by an invisible hand, that their path is preordained and leads to something grand. They are often seen as haughty or overconfident, but many do possess a strange luck or fortune that seems to validate their beliefs.

Tenets of Destiny

The tenets of the Oath of Destiny are often written by the paladin themselves, guided by their personal beliefs in their own fate.

  • Inevitable Triumph: Never shy away from challenges; they are but stepping stones on your path.
  • Master of Fate: Seek to control the strands of destiny, yours and others, for the greater good.
  • Celestial Compass: Always move forward, as hesitation derails destiny.

  • Twist of Fate: As a Reaction, you can use your Channel Divinity to force any creature you can see within 30 feet of you to reroll an attack roll, saving throw, or ability check. The creature must use the new roll.

  • Hero's Valor: As an action, you can use your Channel Divinity to give yourself and allies within 10 feet temporary hit points equal to your Paladin level + your Charisma modifier for 1 minute. During this time, they also gain advantage on saving throws against being frightened.

Oath of Devotion Spells

Aura of Destiny

Starting at 7th level, an invisible aura surrounds you and extends up to 10 feet from you, granting you and your allies protection against effects that manipulate fate, destiny, or time. Any friendly creature within this aura gains advantage on saving throws against spells, abilities, or environmental effects that alter or predict fate (such as Bestow Curse, Divination, or a Divination Wizard's "Portent" ability). At 18th level, the range of this aura extends to 30 feet.

Shield of Fate

At 15th level, whenever you or a creature within 30 feet of you takes damage, you can use your reaction to reduce that damage by half.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Destiny Fulfilled

At 20th level, as an action, you can assume the form of a celestial being of destiny. For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:

  • You gain temporary hit points equal to half your maximum hit points.
  • Your attacks score a critical hit on a roll of 18-20.
  • If you or a creature within 30 feet of you rolls a 1 on an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, they can reroll the die and must use the new roll.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
