Base Class: Monk
Usually practiced by the dwarves, but due to their peaceful and welcoming nature they'll accept pretty much anyone.
Developed as a way of self defence, it focuses on defence and crippling blows at the right moment. Practitioners of this art are as at home an a battlefield as they are in a hearth.
Skin made of Iron
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can use your ki to enhance your body to survive large amounts of punishment. Whenever you use Patient Defense or Step of the Wind, you can choose to gain one of the following effects:
- You have resistance to bludgeoning, slashing, and piercing until the start of your next turn
- You gain a +1 bonus to your AC until the start of your next turn
- You have advantage on ability checks and saving throws to resist being grappled, restrained, forcibly moved, or knocked prone.
Forge Initiate
Your time under the Mountain has let you pick up a few things, you gain proficiency with Smith's tools.
Forging Blows
At 6th level, Any time you make an attack roll for you martial arts, you can add you Strength modifier to the damage roll as well, if you already use your strength modifier you double it.
Additionally, you can spend 3 Ki points to use an action to make a Forging Blow attack, any creature within a 15ft cone must make a strength saving throw or take 3d10 bludgeoning damage and be knocked prone, on a success they take half the damage and are not knocked prone.
Steel in our Bones
Beginning at 11th level whenever you are hit by a melee attack, you can use your reaction to reduce the damage by 1d10+ your constitution modifier + half your monk level.
If you reduce the damage to 0, you may spend 1 ki point to make an unarmed melee attack against the attacking creature as part of the same reaction if it is within range.
Power of the Mountain
At 17th level, you reach you maximum physical potential. Your Strength, Dexterity and Constitution scores increase by 2 to a maximum of 22.
