Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks of the Way of the Forest Spirit have trained for years alongside other protectors of the land.  They use their abilities to protect peaceful travelers from the more monstrous denizens of the land and to punish those who would exploit the land and its resources.  The monks have learned to accomplish their missions using stealth and subterfuge to go unnoticed.  They have done this so well that many local legends of haunted forests and cursed deserts are the result of their efforts.

Natural Attunement

  • Difficult terrain doesn’t slow your group’s travel.
  • Your group can’t become lost except by magical means.
  • Even when you are engaged in another activity while traveling (such as foraging, navigating, or tracking), you remain alert to danger.
  • If you are traveling alone, you can move stealthily at a normal pace.
  • When you forage, you find twice as much food as you normally would.
  • While tracking other creatures, you also learn their exact number, their sizes, and how long ago they passed through the area.

Nature Step

The monk has become one with nature.  When a monk of the Way of the Forest Spirit has used the Natural Attunement for their current environment they can use the Nature Step ability.

Character disappears in a burst of appropriate natural materials for the area ( leaves, pebbles, sand, water, etc) and reappears the same way within 60 feet to an unoccupied space that you can see.  The first attack the character makes after reappearing has advantage on the attack roll.

Natural Harmony

When you are in an are you are attuned to with the Natural Attunement ability, if you are able to hear, you are aware of the location of any hidden or invisible creature within 20 feet of you.  You also cannot be surprised when in your attuned environment.

Protect the Protector

By spending 4 ki points a monk can call on the protection of the land.  In a 10 foot radius extending out from the monk, the land itself tries to hinder any attacker the intends to cause the monk harm for 1 minute.  The ground in this area is considered rough terrain for the aggressor and attacks against the monk from within the area are made at disadvantage.
