Base Class: Artificer
The Driller is a rare breed among artificers, drawing inspiration from the very heart of the earth. Legend has it that these unique drill devices were originally conceived by an ancient and advanced society of Astral Sea dwarves. These enigmatic artisans, who once sailed the ethereal currents of the Astral Sea, brought forth knowledge from the cosmos itself to fashion these wondrous tools.

Driller Spells

Reinforced Power Drills
3rd-level Driller feature
You've learned how to create a magical set of powerful handheld drills. Using tinker’s tools or smith’s tools, you can take an action to magically create a set of reinforced power drills. These drills may only be operated by you, and must be wielded in both hands to be functional.
Once you create the drills, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest or until you expend a spell slot to create them. You can have only one set of drills at a time and can’t create one while your drills are present. You can dismiss the drills as an action.
You gain the following benefits while wielding both drills:
- You gain a burrowing speed equal to your walking speed. You are capable of burrowing through loose rock and solid surfaces such as stone and wood, however you are incapable of burrowing through sturdier surfaces such as metal.
- While burrowing, you leave a circular tunnel of your size behind you.
- The drills function as a magical melee weapon with which you are proficient that uses your intelligence as the modifier.
- You can use the drills as a spellcasting focus for your spells and you are still able to cast the somatic components of spells while wielding them.
- You may un-equip the drills as a free action, but re-equipping them is an action.

- Your drill burrowing speed increases by 5 multiplied by your intelligence modifier (minimum of 5 feet).
- Burrowing does not provoke opportunity attacks
- Melee attacks from your drills now deal an extra 1d8 of piercing damage.
Carbide Drill Tips
15th-level Driller feature
Your drills cut through everything like butter.
- Melee attacks using your drills now score a critical hit on a 19 or 20.
- Critical hit melee attacks with your drills now lower the AC of the target by 2 until the start of your next turn.
- You are capable of burrowing through sturdier surfaces such as iron, steel, or even adamantine.
