Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

A mysterious and unsettling patron, The Obscured Anomaly is a presence that exists within the depths of the mist, shrouded in enigma. It defies understanding, leaving those who encounter it with a profound sense of awe and dread. At first glance, it appears as an absurdly massive entity, dwarfing any mortal's comprehension of scale. Those who have glimpsed it recount an overwhelming sensation of their own insignificance in its presence.

What truly sets The Obscured Anomaly apart is its impenetrable veil of mist that cloaks its true form. This supernatural fog swells and shifts, obscuring any attempt to discern the entity's nature. It is as if the very essence of the mist itself is intertwined with this enigmatic patron, making it impossible to perceive without distortion.

Those who have had the misfortune of being near The Obscured Anomaly describe an unsettling symphony of sounds that accompany its presence. The most distinct among them is the eerie clicking, a rhythmic and haunting noise that resonates through the fog. It is as if bones themselves are snapping and shifting, sending shivers down the spine of any who hear it. Other bone-chilling sounds intermingle with the clicks, further adding to the sense of foreboding.

Warlocks who forge pacts with The Obscured Anomaly gain access to eldritch powers tied to this misty enigma. They become conduits for the mysteries concealed within the fog, able to harness its powers and weave it into their spells and abilities. However, the price of such power is to navigate the unknown and decipher the cryptic desires of their patron.

The Obscured Anomaly's motives and goals remain as obscured as its form. It is a patron of shadows and secrets, a presence that thrives in the obscurity of the mist. Warlocks who seek its favor must tread carefully, for the path they walk is one that winds through the realms of uncertainty and the unknown, guided only by the eerie whispers of The Obscured Anomaly.

Expanded Spell List

As warlocks who have formed a pact with The Obscured Anomaly delve deeper into their connection with this enigmatic patron, they experience a unique and eerie process of spell bestowal. The Obscured Anomaly, concealed within the ever-shifting mist, imparts its eldritch knowledge and powers through cryptic and mystifying rituals.

Warlocks often find themselves alone in dense, misty environments, where the boundary between the physical world and the ethereal realm is blurred. In these moments, they feel the presence of The Obscured Anomaly enveloping them. The entity communicates not through words, but through sensations, eerie sounds, and a profound sense of understanding.

The warlock may experience visions or hear whispers that guide them in unlocking the patron's secrets. Spells and incantations are revealed through these mystical encounters, leaving the warlock with an innate understanding of how to harness the misty powers bestowed upon them.

This process leaves warlocks with a profound connection to the enigmatic forces of the mist and The Obscured Anomaly's influence. As they advance in power, they continue to unravel the mysteries hidden within the mist and wield these newfound spells in their pursuit of arcane mastery.

Anomaly's Conjuration

At 1st level, your bond with The Obscured Anomaly allows you to beckon creatures from the misty realm it inhabits to aid you in your time of need. As an action, you can use Anomaly's Conjuration to summon one or more creatures from the misty plane to fight alongside you. These summoned creatures remain until they are reduced to 0 hit points. The types and number of creatures you can summon depend on your Charisma modifier and your warlock level, as determined by your Dungeon Master.

The creatures you summon are enigmatic and otherworldly, drawn from the same realm as your patron. Their abilities should be discussed and determined in collaboration with your Dungeon Master, reflecting the theme and power level of the campaign.

This ability allows you to call upon the enigmatic denizens of your patron's realm to assist you in combat, further involving your patron in your abilities at the 1st level.

This ability starts off extremely weak, since you are only able to summon creatures that fall under the CR 0 category.

Mistforged Weapon

You can conjure a weapon made of condensed mist, shaping it into the form of your choosing. This weapon remains in your grasp until you dismiss it or are separated from it for an extended period. The Mistforged Weapon deals damage appropriate to its form (e.g., a sword deals slashing damage, a mace deals bludgeoning damage), and it uses your Charisma modifier for attack and damage rolls. It is considered a magical weapon for the purpose of overcoming resistances and immunities.

If your mist weapon is lost then it shall take 30 minutes to recall it.

Mistforged Mastery

At 6th level, your bond with the Mistforged Weapon deepens, granting you greater control over its form and abilities. You can now freely reshape your Mistforged Weapon into different forms as a bonus action during your turn. This allows you to adapt your weapon to various combat situations. For example, you can change it from a sword to a shield, or from a ranged weapon to a two-handed weapon, as long as the form remains appropriate to the original weapon type (e.g., you can't transform a dagger into a massive greatsword).

Additionally, you can transform your Mistforged Weapon into a non-magical item of similar size or smaller, such as a key, a torch, or a book, as a bonus action during your turn. The size rule still applies; you cannot transform the weapon into an item larger than the original weapon's size. Transforming your weapon into an item and vice versa does not affect the recall time; it takes 15 minutes for the weapon to reappear in your hand after it has been dismissed or transformed.

Due to your Mistforged Weapon not scaling with damage other then your CHA bonus, your has decided to scale your weapons with your proficiency bonus aswell, your connection to The Obscured Anomaly allows your Mistforged Weapons to scale in power as you gain more experience. Your Mistforged Weapons now deal additional damage equal to your proficiency bonus.

This scaling mechanism ensures that your Mistforged Weapons become more potent as you level up without relying solely on ability modifiers. Your proficiency bonus increases as you gain levels, making this a simple and effective way to scale the damage of your weapons.

Mistforged Dominion

At 10th level, your mastery over the Mistforged Weapon reaches its zenith, and you gain the ability to exert control over the very essence of mist. Your Mistforged Weapon gains the following enhancements:

  1. Mistforged Arsenal: You can now summon and wield up to three Mistforged Weapons simultaneously, each with different forms and abilities. This allows you to adapt to various combat situations and maximize your versatility.

  2. Ethereal Strike: When you hit a creature with your Mistforged Weapon, you can choose to envelop the target in a shroud of chilling mist. The target must make a Wisdom saving throw or become frightened of you for 1 minute. They can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of their turns, ending the effect on a successful save. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

  3. Mistforged Empowerment: Your Mistforged Weapon now benefits from your Charisma modifier as bonus damage on attack rolls. Additionally, the recall time for your Mistforged Weapon is further reduced to just 1 minute, allowing you to summon it or recall it almost instantaneously. When you deal damage with your Mistforged Weapon, you can choose to deal either cold or psychic damage, providing flexibility to overcome various resistances. This ability enhances your combat versatility while retaining the current functions of the Mistforged Empowerment.

Obscured Ascendancy

At 14th level, you can fully embrace The Obscured Anomaly's otherworldly presence. As an action, you can temporarily meld your consciousness with the misty realm from which your patron hails. For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:

  • You become ethereal, allowing you to move through solid objects and making you immune to non-magical attacks.
  • Your Mistforged Weapon's attacks bypass resistance and immunity to non-magical damage.
  • You gain the ability to cast the spell "Fog Cloud" at will without expending a spell slot, using your Charisma as the spellcasting ability.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest. This ultimate ability reflects your mastery of the Obscured Anomaly's powers, allowing you to become a nearly unstoppable force on the battlefield while being closely attuned to your patron's essence.
