Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

The unpredictable forces of the Elemental Chaos have somehow chosen you to create life in their name. Unstable sludge pools around you and from it you are able to shape twisted creatures that stand at your beck and call. This primordial soup is said to be the origin of life, but its true workings are ancient and unknowable.

Primordial Origins

As a Primordial Soup sorcerer, you decide how you acquired your powers. They could be taught via an ancient tradition or bestowed upon by a deity from the Elemental Chaos. Perhaps you stumbled across something by chance, as chance (or fate) are closely linked to these powers. Consult the following table for a possible origin of your power or make one up on your own.

d6 Origin
1 You found a pool of primordial sludge as a kid and got sucked in. The pool disappeared but nobody ever believed you.
2 Within a prophetic dream, you had a brief glimpse of the Elemental Chaos and its roiling tempest left a physical mark on you forever.
3 You recently found an ancestor’s diary, detailing how they struck a deal with a genie and received the ability to conjure life. Perhaps you can too.
4 After a flood in your village, a stone tablet emerged from the mud. On it you’ve read powerful summoning techniques, but now you lead black liquid from your orifices from time to time.
5 You’ve been inaugurated into a secret society of primordial spellcasters. They stick to strict traditions, but the origin of their order has been long forgotten.
6 As a child, you enjoyed making animal friends out of dirt and mud. You were the only one that was not surprised when they started moving.

Primordial Companion

1st-Level Primordial Soup Feature

At 1st level, as an action, you can summon a primordial companion, which appears in an unoccupied space of your choice that you can see within 30 feet of you. This twisted, gooey companion resembles an ooze variation of a misshapen animal of your choosing like a hound, cat, or ferret.

In combat, the companion shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. It can move and use its reaction on its own, but the only action it takes on its turn is the Dodge action, unless you take a bonus action on your turn to command it to take another action. That action can be one in its stat block or some other action. If you are incapacitated, the drake can take any action of its choice, not just Dodge.

Once you summon the companion, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest, or unless you spend 2 sorcery points.
The companion remains until it is reduced to 0 hit points, until you use this feature to summon a companion again, until you dismiss it using a bonus action, or until you die. Anything the companion was wearing or carrying is left behind when the companion vanishes.

Steal a Bite

1st-level Primordial Soup feature

You or one of your allies within 5 ft. of the Primordial Companion can use their action or bonus action to consume it. The Primordial Companion immediately drops to 0 hit points but the ally regains a number of hit points equal to 1d6 + your Charisma modifier. The texture is horrible and the taste is a random combination of sweet, bitter, salty, and sour.

The healing die increases when you reach certain levels in this class: to 1d8 at 5th level, to 1d10 at 9th level and 1d12 at 13th level.

Relayed Spell

6th-level Primordial Soup feature

At 6th level, whenever you get to pick a Metamagic option, you can instead pick the following Metamagic option:

  • Relayed Spell. When you cast a spell with a range of touch, you can spend 1 sorcery point to deliver it from a friendly creature you can see within 60 ft. instead, as though you were standing in its place.

Bittersweet Goodbye

6th-level Primordial Soup feature

At 6th level, whenever your Primordial Companion vanishes or drops to 0 hit points, you can use your Reaction to make it explode. If you do, each hostile creature within a 15-foot sphere originating from the Companion must make a Dexterity saving throw against your Spell Save DC. On a failed save, a creature takes 1d10 acid damage + your Charisma modifier. Each friendly creature in that 15-foot cube regains hit points equal to 1d10 + your Charisma modifier.

Slime Siblings

14th-level Primordial Soup feature

At 14th level, your control over the primordial soup grants you more life-giving powers. You can summon an additional Primordial Companion as an action by spending 3 sorcery points while your first Primordial Companion is still alive. These companions can coexist. If you try to summon another Primordial Companion like this, the oldest one will vanish.

Additionally, you can use an action to Soup Swap, magically teleporting to one of your Primordial Companions you can see within 30 feet. That Primordial Companion then teleports to where you used this action, effectively swapping places.

Amorphous Form

18th-level Primordial Soup feature

Starting at 18th level, you become one with the soup. You can spend 3 sorcery points as a bonus action to transform yourself, along with everything you're wearing and carrying, into an Amorphous Form. While in this form, your movement is halved, but you can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide without squeezing. You also have resistance to nonmagical damage, and advantage on Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution saving throws. You remain in this form for 1 minute. It ends early if you attack, if you cast a spell, if you are incapacitated, if you die, or if you dismiss it as a bonus action.

Additionally, anytime you use Soup Swap, both you and the chosen Primordial Companion trigger the Bittersweet Goodbye's explosion, originating from your respective positions.
