Bard
Base Class: Bard

Bards of the College of Shanties are a welcome asset on any sea-bound voyage. Those that can afford to hire these bards, and pay the dividends to the college, find their crews bolstered, their ships faster, and cargo kept safer

Inspiring Camaraderie

When you join the College of Shanties at 3rd level, you gain the ability to perform a rhythmic shanty that both inspires your allies and strengthens their bond as a crew. A creature that has a Bardic Inspiration die from you can use the help action as a bonus action until that die is spent.

Luck of the Sea

Starting at 3rd level, your song has the power to inspire the ocean itself. When using your Bardic Inspiration you may choose to target a water vehicle. A water vehicle that has a Bardic Inspiration Die from you gains a Speed Unit’s worth of speed until that die is spent. Any crew member taking a Crew Action on the water vehicle may spend the Bardic Inspiration, adding the number rolled to their total. Additionally when the water vehicle makes a saving throw, a crew member may spend the Bardic Inspiration adding the number rolled to the save.

Sirens Song

At 6th level, you can sing a song to hypnotise and distract others. As a bonus action you cast Hypnotic Pattern, without expending a spell slot, centred on yourself. The Hypnotic Pattern you cast with this feature also effects creatures in the area that can hear you.

Any creature charmed by you automatically fails its saving throw against the Hypnotic Pattern you cast with this feature.

You are immune to the effects of this spell. Additionally you can choose a number of creatures in the area, equal to your charisma modifier, to be unaffected by the spell.

You concentrate on this feature as if you were concentrating on a spell.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.

Battle Shanty

Starting at 14th level, your singing allows your crewmates to better co-ordinate during battle. When you cast a bard spell of 1st level or higher that has a verbal component, you can expend one use of your bardic inspiration to sing a shanty. You choose a number of creatures equal to your charisma modifier, that are within 60 feet and can hear you to be affected by this feature. As a reaction, these creatures may make a weapon attack, and add the number rolled on the Bardic Inspiration die to the attack roll.
