Base Class: Wizard
An Order of Lysdexicans Wizard is capable of great, and truely stupid, magical feats by exchanging letters in the names of magical spells and items within their possession, altering their effects!
This can be done during a long rest (through the primary use of your Spellwarp class feature), or on-the-fly! (through the use of Typos)
Scrabblebag, Basic
Lysdexican wizards source their illbegotten vowels and consonants from scrolls, stolen spellbooks and other sources of arcane knowledge, storing them within a container known as a Scrabblebag.
The Scrabblebag takes the form of a small, rune-etched leather bag.
Whenever the Lysdexican Wizard gains or loses Letters, Words or Names, they are added/subtracted from this bag.
From base, the Scrabblebag may store up to 24 Letters.
Typo Points
Typo Points function similarly to a Sorcerer's point-system.
A Typo Point may be expended to activate your Spellwarp class feature as part of a Spellcasting action, changing the spell as if you had Spellwarped it.
- You can only change letters up to a maximum equal to your Proficiency Bonus.
- Any letters used from your Scrabblebag as part of a Typo are consumed.
- The Spellwarp change only lasts for the casted spell. It is then reverted to it's base form.
Spellwarp
In addition to the basic uses for a Scroll/Spellbook a Wizard possesses, an Order of Lysdexican Wizard may instead choose to pilfer letters from them.
As part of a long rest, the Wizard may use the Spellwarp feature to manipulate a source of Arcane lange (Such as a scroll, spellbook, or engraved item).
When doing so, the Wizard may perform up to 2 of the following effects:
- Remove a random letter from the name of the object and add it to their Scrabblebag.
- Remove 1d4 random letters from the object, consuming it in the process, and add them to their Scrabblebag.
- Add or remove a space to the name of the object.
- Copy a letter from their Scrabblebag to the name of the object. (this does NOT consume the letter from your Scrabblebag)
- Add 2-3 letters from your Scrabblebag to the name of the object. (this DOES consume the letters from your Scrabblebag.)
Doing any of the above effects to an object results in it being marked as Spellwarped.
Spellwarped has the following effects on an item, depending on it's type:
- If a Scroll or Spellbook:
It cannot be learnt by other classes EXCEPT Order of Lysdexicans, but it CAN still be activated by them. - If a Magical Object:
it can be freely used by any classes, though any effects that require recharging (For example; during a long rest) only recharge when attuned to a Lysdexican Wizard.
Editing the name of a spell results in the effects of the spell being changed to match. What effects a spell has after being changed is chosen by the DM, either on the fly (if Typo'd), or ahead of time (if changed during a Long-Rest). An example of this would be as follows:
Substituting the "F" in "Fireball" with the letter "D" from your Scrabblebag would result in the new spell being called "Direball".
One potential result of the use of Direball would be that instead of a roiling explosion of fire on impact, it instead spawns 1d3+1 angry dire badgers.
Edetorial Privaledge
When a creature you can see attempts to cast a spell, you may use a reaction to cast an effect in the same manner as Counterspell.
If the Counterspell-like effect is successful, instead of countering the spellcast you expend Typo Points to edit the casted spell as per your Typo class feature. (Eg. Fireball -> Direball).
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Grater Spelworping
Beginning at 10th level, you can consume magical objects (scrolls, spellbooks, artifacts) as part of your Spellwarp class feature to pilfer a Word from their name.
A Word may be applied in any way a letter would be as part of a Typo or Spellwarp usage, but it always consumed as part of the application.
Wurds from teh Weeve
Starting at 14th level, you can consume magical objects (scrolls, spellbooks, artifacts) as part of your Spellwarp class feature to pilfer their entire Name!
You may only hold a single Name in your Scrabblebag at any given time, and it's addition to an object's name consumes it, irrespective of how it is applied.
(Eg of application: Ray of Frost -> Ray of FrostFireball)
A Name may be applied in any way a letter would be as part of a Typo or Spellwarp usage, but may also be broken down into a random Word.
Roll 1dX, where X is the amount of words in the name.
