Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

A Ragecaster doesn't need to focus to use their spells, their rage will suffice.  In fact, their magic is even stronger when they're raging.

Spellcasting

Your rage is so strong, that it is manifesting as destructive magic.

Ragecaster Spells

A damaging spell can be cast as a Ragecaster spell, even if it's from another source, if it meets all of the following requirements:
1. The spell's casting time is either 1 action, 1 bonus action, or 1 reaction.
2. The spell either doesn't have a material component, can be cast using a spellcasting focus, or its material component is a weapon.
3. The spell's duration is 1 Round or less.
4. The spell doesn't require concentration.

Cantrips

You learn two cantrips of your choice from the Ragecaster spell list.  You learn an additional Ragecaster cantrip of your choice at 10th level.

Spell Slots

The Spellcasting table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your spells of 1st level and higher.  To cast one of these spells, you must expend a slot of the spell’s level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.

For example, if you know the 1st-level spell shield and have a 1st-level and a 2nd-level spell slot available, you can cast shield using either slot.

Spells Known of 1st-Level and Higher

You know three 1st-level Ragecaster spells of your choice.

The Spells Known column of the Ragecaster Spellcasting table shows when you learn more Ragecaster spells of 1st level or higher.

Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of the Ragecaster spells you know with another spell of your choice from the Ragecaster spell list.  The new spell must be of a level for which you have spell slots.

Spellcasting Ability

Strength is your spellcasting ability for your spells, since your magic stems from your rage against the universe.  You use your Strength whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability.  In addition, you use your Strength modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier

Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier

Spellcasting Focus

You can use any melee weapon as a spellcasting focus for your spells.

Ragecasting

From lever 3 onward, your spellcasting is augmented by your rage, rather than being inhibited by it.

Ragecaster spells can be cast while raging and benefit from your bonus rage damage.

Reckless Attack can be used on, and gives advantage to, spell attack rolls too.

You don't get disadvantage for making spell attack rolls while a hostile creature is within 5 feet of you.

Hyper-Aggressive Caster

From level 6 onward, you can be more aggressive with your spellcasting.

Whenever you take the Attack action, you can replace each of your attacks in that action with a Ragecaster spell, with the choice being made on each attack.  If any of the spells you cast as part of your Attack action isn't a cantrip, then you can't cast a spell as a bonus action on the same turn.  If you already cast a spell as a bonus action, then all spells cast as part of your Attack action must be cantrips.

If you're using two-weapon fighting, and you didn't cast any spells as part of your Attack action that wasn't a cantrip, then you can replace your bonus action attack with a Ragecaster spell that has a cast time of 1 Action.

You can cast a Ragecaster spell with a cast time of 1 Action as your attack of opportunity, provided the spell only targets the creature that provoked the attack of opportunity from you.

Brutal Critical Magic

From level 10 onward, Brutal Critical affects spells as well.

You can roll one additional spell damage die when determining the extra damage for a critical hit with a Ragecaster spell attack.

This increases to two additional dice at 13th level and three additional dice at 17th level.

Mighty Magic

From level 14 onward, you can try to force your Ragecaster spells to be harder to save against.

Whenever one of your Ragecaster spells calls for a saving throw, you can replace your spell save DC with a Strength (Athletics) check.
