Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Barbarians who synergize druidic magic with their martial prowess are often found as protectors of druid groves. These warriors use their connection to the natural world to supplement their abilities.

Spellcasting

When you reach 3rd level, you augment your martial prowess with the ability to cast spells. See Spells Rules for the general rules of spellcasting and the Spells Listing for the druid spell list.

Cantrips

You learn two cantrips of your choice from the druid spell list. You learn an additional druid cantrip of your choice at 10th level.

Spell Slots

The Path of the Old Ways Spellcasting table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your druid spells of 1st level and higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a slot of the spell’s level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.

For example, if you know the 1st-level spell longstrider and have a 1st-level and a 2nd-level spell slot available, you can cast longstrider using either slot.

Spells Known of 1st-Level and Higher

You learn two 1st-level druid spells of your choice.

The Spells Known column of the Path of the Old Ways Spellcasting table shows when you learn additional druid spells of 1st level or higher. Each of these spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots. For instance, when you reach 7th level in this class, you can learn two new spells of 1st, or 2nd level.

Spellcasting Ability

Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for your druid spells, since you gain your spells from the divine essence of nature itself. You use your Wisdom whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Wisdom modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a druid spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier

Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier

Druidic Training

Starting at 3rd level, when you adopt this path you know Druidic, the secret language of druids. You can speak the language and use it to leave hidden messages. You and others who know this language automatically spot such a message. Others spot the message’s presence with a successful DC 15 Wisdom (Perception) check but can’t decipher it without magic.

Additionally, you can cast and concentrate on druid spells while raging.

Unimpeded Rage

Starting at 6th level, while you are raging, moving through nonmagical difficult terrain costs you no extra movement. You can also pass through nonmagical plants without being slowed by them and without taking damage from them if they have thorns, spines, or a similar hazard.

Beast Shape

At 6th level, your connection with the natural world allows you to take the form of a beast. Once per short rest, you can spend a rage use to cast polymorph on yourself without spending a spell slot.

Inexhaustible Fury

At 14th level, your rage can sustain you through the harshest conditions. While you are raging you ignore the effects of exhaustion.
