Base Class: Monk
A monk who uses the calm of water to diffuse fights, but also the destructiveness of water when they inevitably start.
Ripple Arts
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can use your ki to duplicate the effects of certain spells. As an action, you can spend 2 ki points to cast Charm Person, Calm Emotions, Suggestion, or Enthrall, without providing material components. Additionally, you gain the Shape Water Cantrip if you don't already know it.
Ripple Strike
Also at 3rd level, you gain the ability to channel the destructive ripples of water into your hands. Whenever you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend up to 3 ki points to activate a "Ripple Strike." For every ki point spent, choose one of the abilities below that will be added to the attack.
- The damage dice of the attack is doubled.
- The creature must make a Constitution saving throw or have disadvantage on attack rolls until the start of your next turn.
- The creature must make a Constitution saving throw or have its movement speed halved until the start of your next urn.
Flowing Spirit
At 6th level, your body musters more of the raw force of water, adapting you to it. You gain a swimming speed equal to you movement speed, and you can breathe underwater. Additionally, all of your unarmed strikes gain the siege property (they deal double damage to objects and structures).
Calm of The Lake
At 11th level, the calm of water exudes a presence around you, calming your foes temporarily and potentially causing them to mess up. Whenever a creature within 10 feet of you makes an attack roll against you, it must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, the attack misses you, and the creature must attempt to attack a different creature or the attack is wasted. For every time a creature fails this saving throw, it gain a +5 bonus to its next saving throw against this ability, stacking if they fail again (For example, if a creature were to fail the saving throw 3 times, they would have a +15 bonus to their saving throw against this ability). On a success, the attack roll is made as normal, and this ability no longer functions against that creature for 24 hours.
One With the Waves
At 17th level, you can unleash the ultimate raw force of water, more than a mere ripple or wave. You can spend 6 ki points to cast Tsunami, with the following modifications:
- The spell takes an action to cast, instead of a minute.
- The spell only takes its initial effects and then immediately ends.
- When you cast the spell, you can designate any number of creatures you can see to be unaffected by it.
