Monk
Base Class: Monk

The Way of the Trigger Finger is not for the faint of heart. A long and arduous journey lies ahead of its adherents, one of pain and sacrifice. But those with enough perseverance and strength of will might be granted a truly great gift: raining down leaden hell upon all who oppose them.

Ki Firearm

At level 3, on choosing this tradition, you can fabricate a magical firearm to suit your needs. As an action, you can spend a number of ki points to manifest a different shimmering ranged weapon depending on the amount of ki points you spent. Since these weapons are made from ki, they have a misfire score of 0. Otherwise, the rules for firearms are the same as can be found in the weapons table in the PHB and the Gunslinger Fighter subclass. You add your Proficiency bonus and your Wisdom modifier to attack rolls. The weapon lasts either 1 minute or until it is dispelled as a bonus action. At your DM’s discretion, you can re-flavor these weapons to be similar to crossbows or something else relevant to the campaign setting.

Ki Points Spent

Ki Firearm

1

Ki Handgun. Considered a Pistol.

2

Ki Rifle. Considered a Musket.

3

Ki Shotgun. Considered a Blunderbuss.

Soul Piercing

At level 6, your ki becomes further infused into your ki firearms, causing them to become magical for the purpose of overriding resistance and immunity. Furthermore, when you get a critical hit with a ki firearm, you may add an additional die of damage after all the other damage is rolled and multiplied.

Magical Magazines

At level 11, each of your ki firearms no longer has a reload score.

Energetic Channeling

At level 17, each of your weapons gains an additional use.

Additional Use

Ki Handgun

Quickdraw. Instead of using an unarmed strike for your bonus action, you can choose to make an attack with your handgun as a bonus action instead. Flurry of Blows also gains this effect, so long as you spend the required ki point.

Ki Rifle

Focused Shot. You can spend a ki point when taking the Attack action to give yourself advantage on your next attack with the rifle. This ability is usable once per turn.

Ki Shotgun

Concussive Burst. When you hit a target with a shotgun blast, you can spend a ki point to force the target to make a Strength saving throw against your Monk save DC or be knocked prone. If the target fails by 7 or more, deal an additional d8 damage. This ability is usable once per turn.
