Circle of the Tidal Spirit

Druids who follow the Circle of the Tidal Spirit are mystics of the ocean's depths, wielding the untamed power of water, and forging an unbreakable bond with the spirits that dwell within its fathomless embrace. These devoted druids are the guardians of the shoreline, protectors of marine life, and keepers of ancient secrets that lie beneath the waves.

At the heart of their power is the ability to commune with water spirits and channel the essence of the ocean itself. As they progress through their journey, they gain mastery over water in all its forms, from serene lakes to tempestuous seas, and the icy depths where primordial entities slumber.

Druids of the Circle of the Tidal Spirit are known for their unique abilities to command water's flow, communicate with aquatic beings, and manipulate the tides to their advantage. They are often found in coastal communities, guiding ships through treacherous waters, healing wounded sea creatures, and safeguarding the balance of the underwater world.

As they advance in their path, these druids become living conduits of the ocean's power, able to shift into a form akin to water elementals and harness the boundless energy of the tides. With their Aqua Elemental Infusion, they become formidable protectors, wielding the forces of water with grace and precision.

In times of peril, the Circle of the Tidal Spirit Druids rise like the relentless surge of the sea, fierce and unstoppable. They are the vanguards of aquatic realms, champions of balance, and the embodiment of the ocean's enduring might.

Umbralee's Blessing

2nd-level Circle of the Tidal Spirit feature

Your former, infinite life may be gone, but the power of Umbralee's Blessing still lives within you.

With it, you have these benefits:

  • You know the Guidance cantrip.
  • You have the Cure Wounds spell prepared. It counts as a druid spell for you, and it doesn’t count against the number of spells you can have prepared.
  • You can cast Cure Wounds without expending a spell slot. You can do so a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
  • You have access to the Tidal Tempest spell.

Tidebound Incarnation

2nd-level Circle of the Tidal Tempest feature

As a practitioner of the Circle of the Tidal Spirit, your connection to the ebb and flow of the ocean's power runs deep. At 2nd level, you gain the ability to assume a transformative state known as the Tidebound Incarnation.

In this transformative state, you become a vessel of aquatic magic, attuned to the mystical aspects of water and its spiritual guardians.

Aquatic Attunement: Your bond with the water's essence transcends the physical realm. You gain the ability to breathe underwater effortlessly, and your swim speed matches your normal walking speed. While submerged, you are one with the aquatic environment, allowing you to navigate it with grace.

Mystic Waters: Your affinity for water magic extends to telepathic communication with aquatic beings. While submerged in water, your thoughts become a conduit for understanding. You can communicate telepathically with creatures native to the seas within 60 feet, facilitating cooperation and information exchange. If you stand in any kind of water surface, you have advantage on your passive perception.

Tidal Repulse: While in Tidebound Incarnation, when a creature in melee range makes an attack roll against you, you can use your reaction to create a gust of water. The creature must make a Strength saving throw. On a failed save, they are pushed 5 feet away and the attack misses. On a success, they are not pushed back, but have disadvantage on the attack roll.

Abyssal Spear: While in Tidebound Incarnation, you can hurl a spear-shaped bolt of pressurized water at a target within range as a bonus action. Make a ranged spell attack. On a hit, the target takes 2d4 cold damage.

Ebb and Flow

Your connection to the ocean allows you to control the mysterious influence of ebb and flow on the creatures of this world.

At druid level 6, you learn to control Ebb and Flow.

Ebb: Once per long rest, you can expend a spell slot to cast Bane. Up to three creatures of your choice that you can see within range are engulfed in swirling waters and must make Charisma saving throws. Whenever a target that fails this saving throw makes an attack roll or a saving throw before the spell ends, the target must roll a d4 and subtract the number rolled from the attack roll or saving throw.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, you can target one additional creature for each slot level above 1st.

Flow: Once per long rest, you can expend a spell slot to cast Bless. You bless up to three creatures of your choice within range. Whenever a target makes an attack roll or a saving throw before the spell ends, the target can roll a d4 and add the number rolled to the attack roll or saving throw.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, you can target one additional creature for each slot level above 1st.

Reverberating Waves

10th-level Circle of Tidal Spirit feature

Once per turn, while you are in Tidal Incarnation, on a successful hit with any attack, pick one number that can appear on your attack dice (e.g. 1-4 on d4 rolls, 1-8 on d8 rolls etc). If the attack dice you roll include the number you called, you gain an extra attack with your Abyssal Spear per number called.

If your chosen number is not included on your attack dice roll, you can choose to add 1d4 as damage to your attack roll. The previous effect does not apply to this roll.

Humming of the Deeps

14th-level Circle of Tidal Spirit feature

At 14th level, you have unlocked the ability to infuse yourself with the essence of water elementals as part of your deep connection to the abyss.

Rippling Blast: When you cast a spell that requires an attack roll, you can choose to infuse it with the healing touch of the ocean. On a successful hit, the spell ripples out in a radius of 30 feet, healing 3 creatures of your choice for 1d4.

Tidecaller's Aura: Once per long rest, when you enter your Tidebound Incarnation form, you can choose to create an Abyssal Well within 30 feet of yourself. This well draws water from the depths, creating a 20-foot radius area of difficult terrain centered on the well filled with knee-deep, swirling water. Creatures entering the well must make a Strength saving throw or have their speed reduced by half. The well lasts for 1 minute or until dismissed.
