Bard
Base Class: Bard

While many bards spend their time travelling, making merry, or performing for others, there are those who seek to perfect the culinary craft. Bards of the College of Flavor find themselves not in court or camaraderie but in the kitchen, producing dishes to draw in the hungry. Feeding the masses until they're full is a noble cause, but oftentimes is one that goes unnoticed.

Even though bards of this college may not be excellent fighters, they are marked by their ability to bolster those around them with pleasant aromas and the promise of a good meal. Their motivation may very, but these bards provide an astounding benefit—for though there are few things that can be guaranteed throughout the journey of life, the steadfast resilience of an adventurer's hunger is one of them.

Arcane Cookware

When you join the College of Flavor at 3rd level, you hone the craft of preparing a tantalizing feast. You gain proficiency with Cook's Utensils.

Additionally, you require a cooking station to begin your cuisine. While cooking at your station, you can use your Cook's Utensils as a spellcasting focus. Your cooking station must be easily carried and brought with you wherever you may travel. You determine your equipment's appearance, or generate it randomly by rolling on the Arcane Cookware table.

Invigorating Aroma

Also at 3rd level, you become entangled magically with your contrivances. As an action, you can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to magically assemble your cooking equipment, don your utensils, and begin cooking.

While preparing a meal at your cooking station, you fulfill a recipe over the course of several turns. Adding an ingredient requires an action. With each ingredient added, choose one of the following benefits:

  • When you roll damage on a weapon attack, add one Bardic Inspiration die to the roll
  • At the end of your turn, gain one Bardic Inspiration die of temporary hit points
  • End one charmed or frightened condition effecting you
  • Recover one spell slot of a level equal to or lower than your proficiency bonus
  • Your next attack roll, ability check, or saving throw has advantage
  • You gain resistance to one damage type of your choice

Allies within 10 feet of the cooking station also receive these benefits. These effects are cumulative, and each may only be added once. In order to receive these benefits, allies within 10 feet of the cooking station must be able to smell the recipe. If you end your turn without cooking, or allies are unable to smell the food, all effects immediately end.

Additionally, if you cook for at least four consecutive turns, you create a healing meal that can be shared among your companions. You can continue cooking past four turns to make the meal larger. When you stop cooking, you can restore a total number of hit points equal to one Bardic Inspiration die for every turn spent cooking.

The range of Invigorating Aroma increases by 5 feet at 6th level, and again at 10th, 14th, and 18th level.

Expanded Palette

At 6th level, you become more capable while cultivating your recipes. While cooking at your cooking station, when you cast a spell that has a casting time of 1 action, you can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to change the casting time to 1 bonus action for this casting. If a target of the spell is within range of the cooking station, you can either add or subtract one Bardic Inspiration die from your attack roll or their saving throw.

Additionally, when a creature you can see moves within range of the cooking station, you can use your reaction to fling hot broth at them. A target must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take one Bardic Inspiration die of acid damage.

The Last Supper

At 14th level, the food you cook has been bolstered significantly through your magical prowess. You learn the spell heroes' feast if you don't already know it, and it counts as a Bard spell for you. When you cast the spell using your cooking station as a focus, it does not require the material components with a cost, and you may choose to make one of the following modifications to it:

  • The casting time is changed to one minute, and the consumption time becomes 10 minutes
  • The advantage given to Wisdom saving throws is changed to advantage on saving throws of another ability of your choice
  • The number of creatures that can partake of the feast increases from twelve to twenty-four
  • The duration of the benefits increases from 24 hours to 48 hours.

You can only modify heroes' feast in this way once per long rest.
