Base Class: Monk

Hailing from one of the many Eastern Temples, the devout train to protect those weak and frail from danger and harm. They are blessed by the devas to help those in need and safeguard the holy saints. They are the guardians of virtue and the purifiers of sin. They are Asura.

Hidden from the eyes of many and known only to few, the ambitious seek ever more power to slake their eternal desires. They gain their power through immense passion and destruction. They are the tyrants of rage and the destroyers of balance. They are Asura.

The Order of Asura are as a group a varied lot, with many conflicting beliefs and ideas, but they all stand united at the core at how they work -through passion and immense belief. Asuras are never neutral, they pick a cause in what they believe in and fight to the death to achieve it.

 

Rage

At 3rd level, when you choose this Monastic Tradition, you can channel your anger to intensify your physical abilities. As a Bonus Action, and by expending 1 ki point, you may enter a blind rage for 1 minute, until you are incapacitated or you die. The effects also end if you choose not to attack or you do not take damage. You gain the following benefits as long as you are not wearing armour or using a shield:

  • You have advantage on Strength ability checks and saving throws.
  • When you make an unarmed strike or monk weapon attack, you gain a bonus to the damage roll equal to your martial arts Die. This may only be used once per turn.
  • You gain Temporary Hit Points equal to your Monk Level + Wisdom Modifier.

 

Asura’s Fury

At level 6, when you target a creature with an unarmed strike or a monk weapon during rage and you have Advantage, you may use Flurry of Blows without expending a Ki point.

Wrath

At 11th level, you have expanded your rage beyond its normal bounds, becoming a wrathful beast. Alongside the normal Rage benefits, you gain these benefits;

  • You have advantage on Dexterity ability checks and saving throws.
  • You can use Deflect Missiles to deflect Melee attacks 
  • You may expend 1 or more Ki points, up to your Wisdom Modifier, to add an additional minute to your rage per Ki points. 

Vajra Form

At 17th level, your rage becomes corporeal and you gain immense power. Your Dexterity score is increased by 2. Your maximum for Dexterity score is now 22.

 

Additionally, when you enter rage, you can spend 5 additional ki to assume the shape of an Asura, a six-armed destroyer, for the duration of the rage. While you are in the Asura form, in addition to the normal benefits you gain from your rage, you gain the following benefits:

  • You gain a +2 bonus to AC, and your walking speed is doubled.
  • You have resistance to all damage
  • When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can make an additional unarmed strike or monk weapon attack with the same Attack action.

When you assume the Asura form, you may spend 2 additional ki. If you do so, you are under the "enlarge" effect of the enlarge/reduce spell for the duration.

Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.
