Monk
Base Class: Monk

Way of the Tessen monks utilize a rare form of martial arts that focuses on the war fan, or Tessen. Their movements are fluid, almost dance like, and they use the fans both to strike their foes as well as confuse, disorient, and distract.

Tessen count as shortswords for the purposes of weapon categorization, though they are considered exotic weapons rather than simple. Any creature who does not train in proficiency with these weapons has disadvantage on attack rolls while using them.

Monastic Performer

You gain proficiency in the Performance skill as well as the Tessen, or war fans.

Dance of Snake and Crane

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, your grace and precision allows you to influence your enemies in combat. When you use your Patient Defense ability, you may expend an additional ki point to force an enemy you can see within 30 feet to make a charisma saving throw. If they fail, they are distracted by your movements and must subtract one roll of your monastic die from their next attack roll or saving throw until the beginning of your next turn.

Dance of Earth and Sky

When you use your Step of the Wind ability, you may expend an additional ki point to gain a fly speed equal to your walking speed until the end of the turn. If you are still ariborn at the end of your turn, you fall at a rate of 60 feet per second.

Dance of Cloth and Steel

When you use your Flurry of Blows ability, you may expend an extra ki point to use your war fans instead of unarmed strikes. If any of your attacks hit using the fans, the target must make a Wisdom saving throw. If they fail, their movement speed is reduced by half until the end of their next turn.

Captivating Performance

As an action, you may dance and wave your Tessen in front of an enemy. Make a contested performance check against an enemy's insight check. If you succeed, you may immediately expend a ki point to use Flurry of Blows as your bonus action, except you have advantage on all attacks made in this way.

Hypnotic Grace

When you roll initiative while using your Tessen, you are under the effect of the Blur spell. This effect lasts until you are hit by an attack.

Dance of Wind and Light

By expending 7 ki points, you may cast investiture of wind, as your movements increase to a rapid speed. While you are under the effects of this spell, your monastic die is increased by one die value and you have advantage on dexterity and wisdom saving throws.
