Oath of the Steelsoul

The Oath of the Steelsoul is a complete dedication of the body in its entirety to personal improvement for the sake of one’s deity. This oath can be taken by any who believe that, through power of self, their connection to their deity can be heightened. The ones who take this oath do so, knowing the hardships they will face in their pursuits. They are the ones that choose to live with every fiber of their being as their doctrine wills and not be submissive to an outside group’s ideology. Through their will, commitment, and training, they demonstrate with the true divinity of their god.

TENETS OF THE STEELSOUL

Though the exact words and strictures of the Oath of the Steelsoul vary, paladins of this oath share these tenets.

Individuality. Take pleasure in the fact that you are unique. You bring something that no one else can, and that thought strengthen and reinforces your connection with your god. Do not be afraid to seek help from others, but be wary not to fall under the shadow of someone else’s ideals. Believe in what you stand for and you will become a beacon to others.

Liberation. Do not be weighed down by anything. You are free. Rebel against that which seeks to chain you down. Never believe that there is a limit to what you can do, for you are limitless.

Prowess and Skill. Relentless work and training must be undertaken to keep the mind pure, the soul strong, and the body able to meet whatever challenges it my face. You are tireless in the pursuit of your own perfection.

Perfection of Self. Your power comes from you. You are the catalyst and the tool of the divinity of your deity. Keep growing, learning, and improving. Strengthen the body so it may protect and obey you. Strengthen the mind so your resolve may never waver. And strengthen the soul, for there you will find true divinity.

 

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Limitless Potential. As a bonus action, your strong devotion to follow in the ideals of your deity push you far beyond your limits using your Channel Divinity. For 1 minute, your proficiency bonus increases by 1.

Free from Chains. When you suffer an effect that requires you to make a saving throw at the end of your turn to end the effect, you can use your reaction to enter a focused state for 1 minute. While in this focused state you make end of turn saving throws at the beginning of your turn, instead of at the end. This saving throw is made with advantage.

Oath of the Steelsoul Spells

Aura of the Steelsoul

Starting at 7th level, your fighting spirit and unbreakable will radiates those around you and hinder their attackers. When you or any creature of your choice within 10 feet of you take damage, that damage is reduced by an amount equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1, maximum of 5).

At 18th level this aura increases in range up to 30ft.

Immovable Stance

Beginning at 15th level, you are immune to effects that would knock you prone.

If an effect moves you against your will along the ground (like being pushed or pulled), the distance you are moved is reduced by up to 10 feet. Alternatively, you can use a reaction to reduce the distance you are moved by up to 30 feet.

Steelsoul Empyrean

At 20th level, as an action, you can harness the Steelsoul for a daunting effect as you emanate a pulsing aura around your body and your skin gains a metallic, steel-like shine. For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:

• You gain 100 temporary hit points.
• Any attack roll that isn't against you has disadvantage on any creature of your choice within 30 feet of you.
• When a creature hits you with a melee attack, they must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or become stunned until the end of its next turn.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
