Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

In the legends of old, rider and dragon fought as one. In this day and age with the decline and rarity of dragons, witnessing a pair in action are not so common anymore. As such, the dragons and their riders are almost non-existent, but their teachings and knowledge still remain, protected by the descendants of the dragon riders. Their techniques and knowledge are taught among the chosen few who choose to learn the old ways. Since the times have changed, these techniques were further developed; incorporating the needed skills and cunning of the riders with the graceful, yet powerful movements of their dragons. Thus giving birth to a new age of dragon warriors, known as the Dragoons.

Rider's Erudition

When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you are knowledgeable in the ways of dragons. You can read, write, and understand Draconic. You also have advantage on History (Intelligence) checks and Nature (Wisdom) checks regarding dragons or dragonborn.

Dragon's Grace

Beginning at 3rd level, you have learned the fundamentals of Dragoon mobility. Your long jump and high jump distance are doubled. Additionally, as a bonus action, after your initial jump, you can enhance your next attack as you perform a dive attack. When you perform a dive attack you take no fall damage, instead you deal half the fall damage as additional damage die for the attack, rounded down. (i.e. if you would fall 20 ft the attack deals 1d6 damage)

At 15th level,  your long jump and high jump distance are tripled.

Dragon lance

At 7th level, you can use the natural mana in your body to enhance a given weapon. Whenever you finish a short or long rest, you can touch one weapon with the reach property, focus your mana on it, and enhance it until you use this feature again.

The weapon counts as magical, and deals an additional 1d4 damage of your choice from acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison.

Draconic Affinity

At 10th level, you become more infused with draconic mana making you more resistant. You gain resistance to the same damage type you chose for your Dragon lance feature. You also gain half proficiency in any saving throw you are not proficient in.

Death from Above

Starting at 15th level, after declaring a dive attack you can choose to perform a Great Dive as an action. Great dive is an attack that deals double the die in damage. (i.e. 1d10+1d4+5 would deal 2d10+2d4+5) Great dive also deals full fall damage die.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Dance of the Dragons

As you reach 18th level, you begin to understand and can imitate the purposeful movements of the dragons. Once per Long Rest, as an action, you enter a trance called Dragon Dance. In this trance, you gain the following benefits for 1 minute.

  • Your long jump and high jump distance are doubled.
  • Your weapon attacks deal an additional 1d10 force damage.
  • You may double your Dexterity modifier for any Acrobatics (Dexterity) checks.
