Base Class: Bard
Skaldic Warriors seamlessly blend martial prowess with artistic expression, embodying the spirit of ancient warrior poets. These formidable combatants draw strength from the very essence of battle, using it to fuel their artistic abilities and inspire those around them.
Bonus Proficiencies
When you join the College of Swords at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with medium armor and the scimitar.
If you’re proficient with a simple or martial melee weapon, you can use it as a spellcasting focus for your bard spells.
Fighting Style
At 3rd level, you adopt a style of fighting as your specialty. Choose one of the following options. You can’t take a Fighting Style option more than once, even if something in the game lets you choose again.
Dueling
When you are wielding a melee weapon in one hand and no other weapons, you gain a +2 bonus to damage rolls with that weapon.
Two-Weapon Fighting
When you engage in two-weapon fighting, you can add your ability modifier to the damage of the second attack.
The Art of War
You are a master of seeing the beauty in combat. When you become a Skald at 3rd level, when you roll for a melee attack you may choose to instead roll a Performance check and use that number as your attack roll. Additionally, you use your Charisma modifier when rolling damage on melee attacks.
Extra Attack
Starting at 6th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.
Words of Battle
Beginning at 6th level, your spoken words or songs on the battlefield carry a magical weight. When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can replace one of your attacks with an inspiring or intimidating performance. Choose a creature within 30 feet and grant them advantage on their next attack roll or impose disadvantage on the next attack against them.
Battle Artistry
At 14th level, your artistry reaches its zenith. Each artistry enhances your combat and artistic capabilities in a distinct way.
-
Song of the Valkyrie: Your inspiring songs grant allies the ability to resist death's grip. Once per long rest, when an ally would drop to 0 hit points, they drop to 1 hit point instead.
-
War Drumming: Your rhythmic drumming fuels your adrenaline. Once per short rest, you can make an additional weapon attack as a bonus action on your turn.
-
Sculpted Verse: Your meticulously crafted verses manipulate the battlefield. Once per short rest, you can cast the confusion spell without expending a spell slot.
