Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

Use your superior range to keep your enemies locked down as they struggle to approach you and your allies. Perform a ritual on a whip to create a powerful weapon that will make you a dangerous foe at close and distant ranges.

Ceremony of Power

Starting at 3rd level, as a part of your long rest you can preform a 10 minute long ritual with a whip to transform it into into a Chain Whip. A Chain Whip is a one handed martial weapon with the finesse and reach properties. It deals 2d4 slashing damage and your attacks with it ignore 1/2 cover. You can also replace one of your attacks using this weapon with a lash attack. The lash attack has the target make a 8+proficiency+strength or dexterity, dexterity saving throw, taking your weapon damage on a failure. You can also immediately make an attack with this weapon using your bonus action after you take the attack action, but this attack deals 1d4 damage instead. You can only have one Chain Whip at a time.

Dancing Slashes

Also starting at 3rd level, as an action on your turn, you can preform a dance with your Chain Whip while making a lash against every creature of your choice within on any of the following patterns:

  • A radius equal to your reach
  • A cone twice the length of your reach.
  • A five foot thick line three times the length of your reach.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier and uses reset on a long rest.

Empowered Ritual

Starting at 7th level, your connection with your Chain Whip grows stronger, extending it's reach to 15 feet and allowing the damage from it to count as magical damage when it comes to overcoming resistances and immunities. And it also begins to ignore 3/4 cover. Your reach with the Chain Whip further grows to 20 feet at 15th level and it then ignores all cover as it begins to curl around corners.

Constricting Coil

Also starting at 7th level, whenever you hit a creature with your Chain Whip, you can expend a use of your Dancing Slashes feature to replace one of your attacks with a Constricting Coil. The creature makes a dexterity saving throw against your Lash save DC and takes the weapon damage plus additional damage equal to a number of d4s equal to half your proficiency modifier rounded down. If the target is large or smaller, it is grappled. On a success, the target takes half as much damage and is not grappled. While the creature is grappled this way, you can only direct attacks made with your Chain Whip at it, and can use your movement speed to drag it up to 15 feet within your range. The creature can repeated the saving throw at the start of its turn, escaping on a success. If it fails, you can use your reaction to deal 1d4 damage to it. Also starting at 18th level, a creature grappled this way is also considered restrained.

Raking Barbs

Starting at 10th level, Your Chain Whip grows spikes, raising it's damage die to d6s. At 18th level, the damage further raises to d8s.

Unrelenting Dance

Starting at 15th level, after rolling initiative, if you have no uses of your Dancing Slashes feature, regain one use

Inescapable Fury

Starting at 18th level, if a creature moves away from you, you can opportunity attack them even if they are still within your weapon's range.
