Bard
Base Class: Bard

The bloodline of the God Emperor Erodath holds power, even now in the time after his death at the hands of the usurper deities. The bards of the College of Utterances wield but a fraction of this power and once were agents of Emperor.

Now, detractors claim them to be pretenders to the authority of the empire. Those that know? They still listen.

True bards are somewhat of a rarity in Menden. There are many muscicians and performers who can inspire through mundane act, but the ones that can actually imbue true magic into their words are a rarer breed. The College of Utterances are those trained to use magic, tone, and force to enact subtle changes to the world around them.

Pronounce Change

When you choose this college at 3rd level, you gain the ability to change the world to better suit your mission. As a bonus action, expend one use of your bardic inspiration to grant creatures a Pronouncement. Thereafter, the creature may expend a Pronouncement to activate one the the following effects:

  • Utterance of Rage: Expend a pronouncement as a bonus action, make one weapon attack against a creature that you can see.
  • Utterance of Glory: Expend a pronouncement as a bonus action, expend one hit die.
  • Utterance of Skills: Expend a pronouncement as a reaction, reroll one ability check.

A given creature may only have one Pronouncement at a time. Any remaining Pronouncements expire when you complete a long rest.

Voice of Command

Starting at 6th level, you are able command your allies to act. As an action, expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration. Designate a number of creatures up to your proficiency bonus, within 60 feet, that can both see and year you. Choose one of the following actions:

  • Move: Creatures may use their reaction to move up to their speed.
  • Strike: Creatures may use their reaction to make a melee weapon attack against an adjacent foe.
  • Fire: Creatures may use their reaction to make a ranged weapon attack against a foe they can see.

All designated creatures take the same action.

Word of Power

At 14th level, you unlock of sliver of the power present in the imperial bloodline: a word spoken, a world changed. Choose a spell from any class. The spell must be of a level that you can cast and have a casting time of 1 action. You always have the chosen spell prepared and it does not count against the maximum number of spells you can have prepared.

Additionally, you may cast the spell as a bonus action once, without material or somatic component. Once you cast the spell in this way, you may not do so again until you complete a long rest.
