Base Class: Barbarian
Your rage has always been with you, and it has awakened arcane power deep within you. The bloodrager is true unbridled magical fury on the battlefield.
Bloodrage: Bloodline
At 3rd level, your rage becomes a bloodrage. While bloodraging you gain access to your Bloodrager spells. Your bloodrage counts as rage for all circumstances. While bloodraging, you can cast and concentrate on spells, but only spells granted by this subclass. While concentrating, you must make a wisdom saving throw after concentrating for a number of rounds equal to your wisdom modifier. The DC is equal to 10 + The Spell level. Each successful save raises the DC by 1. The DC resets upon failure. You can maintain your bloodrage by casting a spell instead of attacking an enemy or taking damage.
Choose one of the following bloodlines. Your bloodline is the source of your arcane power & shapes your magic.
- Celestial: You gain resistance against radiant & necrotic damage. While bloodraging, your incandescent might awakens mortality in fiends & undead. You emit bright light for 30 feet around you while raging, and any fiend or undead that perceives you must succeed on a wisdom saving throw against your spell DC or be turned by you as if it were affected by a cleric's turn undead. A creature can repeat it's saving throw at the end of each of it's turns to end this effect. Once a creature succeeds on the saving throw it is immune to this effect for 24 hours.
-
Draconic: Choose a type of dragon. You have resistance against that dragon's breath weapon type. While raging, your skin turns hardens like dragon scales, changing your unarmored defense to 13 + DEX + CON.
-
Infernal: You gain resistance against fire & poison damage. While bloodraging, you can cast hellish rebuke as a reaction without expending a spell slot against a creature that hit you with a melee attack. You also gain Devil's sight while bloodraging, allowing you to see clearly through darkness and magical darkness.
Spellcasting
When you reach 3rd level, you fury manifests with raw magical power, bestowed upon you from some event in your past or the past of an ancestor. You choose your spells from the sorcerer spell list. You learn spells as a sorcerer, but gain spell slots & cantrips as if you were a sorcerer with a level of half your barbarian level (round down). You can only use the spells granted to you by this class while bloodraging. Your spell slots recover on a long rest.
Spellcasting Ability
Charisma is your spellcasting ability for your bloodrager spells, since the power of your magic relies on your ability to project your will into the world. You use your Charisma whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Charisma modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a sorcerer spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.
Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier
Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier
Spellcasting Focus
You can use an arcane focus (see the Adventuring Gear section) as a spellcasting focus for your bloodrager spells. While you are bloodraging, you effectively function as your own spellcasting focus, allowing you to cast spells as if you had a focus regardless of if you do or not.
Bloodrage: Blood In Blood Out
At 6th level, your bloodrage draws out more and more of your latent arcane power, even if it is to the detriment of your own health.
As a Bonus action while raging, you can sacrifice hit points to regain a spell slot. Reduce your maximum hit points by 1d12 per level of the spell slot you wish to regain. If your maximum Hit Points are reduced to 0, you die. You regain any MaxHP lost in this fashion when you take a long rest.
Alternatively you can choose to expend a spell slot to gain Temp HP instead. As a bonus action, expend a spell slot, and gain temp hp equal to 1d8 + your Constitution modifier per spell level. This temp HP only lasts until you finish your bloodrage.
Bloodrage: Flesh & The Power it holds
Your flesh is arcane, and you've learned to draw out the very limits of your magical power.
At 10th level, you can expend a number of rages to cast one spell at 5th level or higher.
While raging, you can expend a number of rages equal to the Spell's level - 4 to cast it. Doing so ends your rage immediately after it is cast, and you suffer one level of exhaustion
Bloodrage: Reign in Blood
Your bloodrage is reaching maturity, bringing fourth the full might of your mystical fury.
You gain the following benefits, based on the bloodline you chose at 3rd level:
- Celestial: Your rage is a cleansing light that heals the world. When you enter bloodrage, you can cast mass healing word as a free action using a spell slot. As a bonus action, you can expend a number of hit dice to regain hit points. Roll a number of your Barbarian hit dice + constitution and regain it as health.
- Draconic: Your rage grants you all the might of a Dragon. As a free action on your turn when you enter bloodrage, you can cast Dragon's Breath on yourself using a spell slot. As a bonus action, you can choose one creature that can see you and attempt to break it's will to fight with your draconic gaze. The creature must make a wisdom saving throw against your spellcasting DC or become paralyzed with fear. The creature can repeat this saving throw at the end of each of it's turns and whenever it takes damage. A creature that passes the saving throw becomes immune to this effect for 24 hours. This effect ends if the creature has no line of sight to you, or if you use this feature on another creature. This has no effect on constructs or creatures immune to fear.
- Infernal: Your rage is hell on earth. As a free action on your turn when you enter bloodrage, you can cast bane using a spell slot. As a bonus action, you can expend a number of barbarian hit dice up to your charisma modifier and add them to the next attack made with one weapon currently in your hands. This effect ends if you deal damage to a creature with the weapon, use this feature again, or lose contact with the weapon.
