Stonecallers master an ancient tradition of wizardry that incorporates warcraft and knowledge of the earth. Originally created by dwarves, this tradition has been adopted by non-dwarf practitioners, who honor and expand on the old ways.

While all rocks and metals sing songs, the Stonecallers seem to be the only ones who can truly hear them and respond in kind.  Young Stonecallers typically get a tattoo emblematic of their ancient tradition. These tattoos are infused with the essence of the Stonecallers favorite mineral or alloy and they often react in strange ways to arcane energy such as lighting up, vibrating, or emitting soft earthy aromas. Elder Stonecallers learn many styles of earth magic and bear many tattoos, wearing a warning on their skin of their deadly skills.

Teachings of the Stonecall

When you adopt this tradition at 2nd level, you gain proficiency with light armor, and you gain proficiency with one type of one-handed melee weapon of your choice.

You also gain proficiency in the History skill.  Should you already have proficiency in the History skill, you may now double your proficiency bonus when it is applied to this skill.

You additionally gain access to a list of exclusive Stonecaller Incantations.

Stonecaller Incantations

Choose one of these unique Stonecaller Incantations:

Earthen Shield: Earth encrusts the armor or clothing of an ally increasing their AC by your spellcasting ability modifier, granting advantage on Constitution saving throws, and preventing any involuntary movement until the start of your next turn (casting time: 1 reaction, range: 30ft)

Stone Tempest: Until the start of your next turn, hostile creatures that start or end their turn within 10 feet of you must make a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC or end their movement and take 1d6 bludgeoning damage.  (casting time: 1 action, range: self, 10ft radius) This damage increases to 2d6 at level 6, 3d8 at level 10, and 4d8 at level 14.

Whetstone: Touch a weapon and encrust it with magical stones.  It is now a +1 version of itself for one hour. (casting time: 1 action, range: touch) This becomes a +2 weapon at level 10.

You may cast this incantation a number of times per long rest equal to half your proficiency bonus rounded down and may change the selected incantation whenever you take a short or long rest.

Earthsong

Starting at 2nd level, you can invoke a secret dwarven magic called the Earthsong, provided that you aren't wearing heavy armor or using a shield. It graces you with supernatural hardiness, strength, and focus.  Small stones and pebbles begin to orbit you.

You can use a bonus action to start the Earthsong, which lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you are incapacitated, if you don heavy armor or a shield, or if you use two hands to make an attack with a weapon. You can also dismiss the Earthsong at any time you choose (no action required).

While your Earthsong is active, you gain the following benefits:

  • You gain a bonus to your AC equal to your Intelligence modifier minus 1 (minimum of +1).
  • You have advantage on Strength (Athletics) checks.
  • You gain a bonus to any Constitution saving throw you make to maintain your concentration on a spell. The bonus equals your Intelligence modifier (minimum of +1).

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. You regain all expended uses of it when you finish a long rest.

Battle Tradition

Beginning at 6th level, when you use your action to make a weapon attack or cast a spell (including cantrips), you may make one additional weapon attack.  Additionally, you may add your constitution modifier to the damage of your melee weapon attacks while your Earthsong is active.

Seneschalic Burden

Beginning at 10th level, you can direct your magic to absorb damage while your Earthsong is active. When you or an ally within 5ft take damage, you can use your reaction to expend one spell slot and reduce that damage by an amount equal to four times the spell slot's level.

Immovable

Beginning at 14th level, you gain access to every Warsong Incantation.  Additionally, you are grounded at all times and gain resistance to thunder damage.
