Bard
Base Class: Bard

Members of the College of the Skald train among nordic warriors, learning to embrace their inner strength. These warrior-poets often lead the charge against the enemy, using their bardic powers to enhance their martial prowess. With enough training, they can even use their powerful magic while in their skaldic rages!

Bonus Proficiencies

When you join the College of the Skald at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with medium armor, shields, and martial weapons.

Skaldic Rage

As a bonus action, you may expend two uses of your Bardic Inspiration to enter a skaldic rage. While raging, you gain the following benefits if not wearing heavy armour:

  • You have advantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws.
  • When you make a melee weapon attack, you gain a +2 bonus cold damage to the damage roll. This bonus increases to +3 at 9th level, and +4 at 16th level.
  • You have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.

You are unable to cast spells, or concentrate on them while raging. Your rage lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you are knocked unconscious or if your turn ends and you haven't attacked a hostile creature since your last turn or taken damage since then. You may also end your skaldic rage on your turn as a bonus action.

Extra Attack

Starting at 6th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.

Poetic Edda

Beginning at 14th level, you have mastered the art of the warrior-poet. When entering a skaldic rage, you may choose to expend an additional use of your Bardic Inspiration to instead enter an eddic rage. While maintaining all the existing benefits of the skaldic rage, this allows you to also retain the ability to cast and concentrate on spells.
