Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

To become an Abyssal Conduit is to tread willingly into the shadows of forbidden pacts. Those drawn to this dark path seek power beyond mortal comprehension, and their journey typically begins with an insatiable curiosity for the arcane and forbidden. A potential Abyssal Conduit may find themselves on the fringes of society, drawn to ancient tomes or guided by ominous dreams.

The pivotal moment occurs when the aspiring warlock willingly opens themselves to the whispers of the abyss, inviting a demonic presence to intertwine with their essence. This unholy communion often takes place through forbidden rituals or dark ceremonies performed in hidden, desolate places. The aspiring Abyssal Conduit bargains with a possessing demon, willingly becoming a vessel for its power in exchange for formidable abilities.

Once the pact is sealed, the Abyssal Conduit's existence becomes a perpetual dance between control and surrender, as they navigate the delicate balance of wielding abyssal might while resisting the complete domination of their demonic patron. The path of the Abyssal Conduit is fraught with peril, but those who endure and master the dark forces within become harbingers of abyssal power, their very beings infused with the malevolent essence of the depths.

Possessor's Boon

At 1st level, after a long rest, select one ability score, gaining a +1 bonus to the chosen score until their next long rest. When possessed (10th level), this bonus increases to +2, as the demonic energies enhance the warlock's physical and mental attributes.

Abyssal Channeler

At 6th level, You can further tap into the abyssal powers. Your attacks deal an additional 1d6 necrotic damage. Additionally, when you cast a spell with a duration of 1 minute or longer, you can concentrate on that spell as if it had the concentration property.

Possession

At 10th level, When facing imminent defeat, the Abyssal Conduit can allow their possessing demon to take control. When you're reduced to 0 hit points but not dead, you can use your reaction to allow your demon to take control. For the next minute you gain the following benefits:

  • A number of temporary hit points equal to twice your warlock level (your demons hit points)
  • A +2 bonus to your armor class
  • An additional 10-feet of movement speed
  • A claw attack that deals 2d6 slashing damage + 1d4 necrotic damage

At the beginning of each of your turns while this ability is active, roll a d20. On a 1-10, you lose control of yourself, and attack the closest creature to you. On an 11-20, you're able to maintain a semblance of control and take your turn as normal. Additionally, due to the possessions, you're unable to cast spells for the duration of this ability. This ability ends early if your demon's hit points are reduced to 0. You can only use this feature once per long rest.

Abyssal Apex

At 14th level, In the height of possession, the Abyssal Conduit gains even greater demonic prowess. When the possession ability is active you gain the following additional benefits:

  • The demon can make an additional attack as a bonus action on each of it's turns
  • The demon gains resistance to Bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage
