Monks who follow the way of silence forsake outward expression and look inward. By taking a vow of silence they hope to achieve a state of inner peace and connect with themselves on a new level. They turn their eyes inward to look upon their own souls and find themselves more fully than they could ever achieve otherwise. As one might imagine, an integral part of the Monk of Silence's life is a vow of silence.

Vow of silence

When you choose this tradition at the 3rd level you take a vow of silence to reach your inner self and discover your great truth. You loose the ability to speak and learn to communicate with Telepathy. You gain the ability to cast the comprehend languages spell as a ritual without any verbal or material components at will. 

Silent movement

Your silence grants you advantage on dexterity (stealth) checks, and allows you to cast the silence and invisibility spells at will, without verbal or material components by expending 2 ki points.

Silent fist

At 6th level, your silence and self reflection have lead to understanding of the flow of energy in the universe. When you make a stunning strike, if the target fails their constitution save you may expend 1 additional ki point to do one of the following additional effects:

  • The target is knocked prone
  • The target is deafened for 1 min
  • The target is pushed back 10ft.

Thundering silence

At 11th level your silence has empowered you to strike with new power. Whenever you make an attack you may expend 1 ki point to make it a thundering strike, which deals thunder damage equal to 2 rolls of your martial arts dice. A thundering strike also make the target make a con save against your ki save DC, on a failed save the target is also deafened and can't take reactions till your next turn.

Inner peace

When you reach 17th level in this class, you attain inner peace. As an action you can enter a state of deep meditation, healing your body a number of hit points equal to your monk level x 3. You can't use this feature again until you finish a long rest.
