A reimagining of the Kensei that is intended to be used by the new PHB monk, but it works with the 2014 version as well.

Blade Soul

3rd-level Weapon Master feature

Over a short rest, infuse your Focus into the soul of a weapon that lacks the Heavy property. While bonded you gain the following benefits:

  • You are proficient in the bonded weapon.
  • You can use Wisdom in place of Strength or Dexterity for your attack and damage rolls with this weapon.
  • You gain a +1 to AC while you wield it and are conscious.
  • You can't be disarmed against your will.

Focused Strike

3rd-level Weapon Master feature

When you spend Focus on Step of the Wind or Patient Defense you can make an additional weapon attack before the end of your turn. This weapon attack deals extra necrotic damage equal to 1/2 your monk level (rounded up).

Sharpen the Blade

6th-level Weapon Master feature

Your Focus enhances your Blade Soul, allowing you to use two rolls of your martial arts die in place of your bonded weapon's normal damage dice (2d8 at 6th level, 2d10 at 11th level, and 2d12 at 17th level).

Heightened Soul

11th-level Weapon Master feature

Your bonded weapon begins to empower you in return, granting your some of the resilience of steel. While bonded you gain proficiency in Constitution saves and your hit points increase by 1 per monk level.

Additionally, your bonded weapon gains a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls. This bonus stacks with an magical bonus provided by a weapon that you bond.

Unerring Accuracy

17th-level Weapon Master feature

Your mastery of weapons grants you extraordinary accuracy. If you miss with an attack roll using a weapon on your turn, you can choose to hit instead. You can use this feature only once on each of your turns.
