Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Dancing Flame practice channeling their Ki into a more raw, powerful essence. Finding the balance to properly tame fire and bend it to one’s will requires a strong mind, and disciplined control over Ki.
Dancing Flame Technique
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can move and strike with the grace and intensity of flames. Flames lick outwards from your hands and feet with every strike.
Whenever you strike a creature with one of the attacks from your Flurry of Blows feature, that creature bursts into flames. A creature that is on fire this way takes fire damage at the start of each of their turns equal to your Martial Arts die, and it takes a full action to douse the flames.
Whenever you hit a creature with an unarmed melee attack, if that creature is on fire, you deal additional fire damage equal to your Proficiency bonus.
Heat Wave
At 6th level, you move with the beautiful grace and violent power of fire. Flames flow from your body as you make your strikes, drastically heating up the air around you.
At the start of each of your turns, any number of creatures of your choice within 5 feet of you take fire damage equal to your Martial Arts die. Before this fire damage occurs, you may spend 2 Ki points at the start of your turn to expand this radius to 15 feet. If a creature is on fire, they take twice this fire damage instead.
Immolation
Beginning at 11th level, the fiery essence of your Ki can be harnessed to wreath yourself in a cloak of fire. As a bonus action, you can surround yourself in flames for 1 minute. While immolated, whenever a creature hits you with a melee attack, you deal fire damage to that creature equal to your Martial Arts die.
When you deal fire damage to a creature this way, you may spend 2 Ki points to ignite that creature in flames if it wasn't on fire already. Creatures that are on fire cannot restore hit points while they remain on fire. You may surround yourself in fire this way 3 times per long rest.
Roaring Inferno
Starting at 17th level, your Ki can now bring out massive bursts of fire. As a bonus action, you may spend 5 Ki points to surge forward up to 30 feet. Your next successful unarmed melee attack deals 8d8 fire damage to any number of creatures of your choice in a 15 foot radius centered on you.
Each creature damaged this way ignites in flames. If an effected creature is already on fire, their attacks have disadvantage until they are no longer on fire. In addition, creatures remain on fire for at least 5 turns, and cannot use an action to put out the flames during that time.
