Cleric
Base Class: Cleric

When a priest's god grows dark and corrupt, they can choose to disown their divine patron, remain ignorant to the infectious evil, or embrace their newfound power fully. The Corrupted Domain includes a small group of clerics that are often hunted and shunned by their own kind. These so called heretics are seen as dangerous by all. Not only for the dark powers they wield, but also for the threat they pose to the many other divine practices. Power corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Corrupted Spells

You gain domain spells at the cleric levels listed in the Corrupted Domain Spells table. See the Divine Domain class feature for how domain spells work.

Corrupted Domain Spells
Cleric Level Spells
1st hex, dissonant whispers
3rd darkness, wither and bloom
5th fear, hunger of hadar
7th shadow of moil, black tentacles
9th danse macabre, negative energy flood

Soul Eater

From 1st level, your god rips away the souls from the recently deceased to aid you, their twisted champion, in battle. As a reaction, whenever a creature dies within 30 feet of you, you may ensnare their soul and restore health equal to 1d4 plus your proficiency bonus.

You can maintain enslavement of 13 souls at a time. If you ensnare a soul while already at your 13 soul maximum, you also gain temporary hit points equal to 1d8 plus your proficiency bonus.

Additionally, your dark god now taints your magic. Whenever you would deal radiant damage, you may choose to convert that damage to either necrotic or cold damage.

Channel Divinity: Dark Anointment

Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Channel Divinity to imbue yourself with dark and twisted divine power. As an action, you raise your holy symbol to the sky. A harsh dark energy washes over you, and darkness seems to pull inwards all around you.

For 1 minute, as an action and/or bonus action on your turn, you may sacrifice an Enslaved Soul to make a ranged attack (called Soul Scar) against a target within 120 feet of you. On a successful hit, you deal necrotic damage equal to 1d6 plus your Wisdom modifier. The ability's damage increases by one die when you reach 5th level (2d6), 11th level (3d6), and 17th level (4d6).

If you activate this Channel Divinity power while in possession of 13 Enslaved Souls, the damage dice become d10s for the duration instead. For the duration of Dark Anointment, whenever you deal damage with a Soul Scar, you restore hit points equal to half the damage dealt.

Torment

At 6th level, the torment and agony of your Enslaved Souls wraps your magic in inky darkness. For every 3 souls you have enslaved, you deal an additional 1 point of necrotic damage on any damage roll you make. If you have 13 Enslaved Souls, you deal a total of 6 additional necrotic damage on your damage rolls.

Additionally, when you make an attack roll, you may sacrifice any number of Enslaved Souls to add that many points to the total roll.

Soul Tear

At 8th level, you now rip souls from the bodies of the fallen, tearing them apart in the process. Whenever you would have gained an Enslaved Soul, you instead gain two. The healing that you receive from the Soul Eater feature also occurs twice as a result of the additional soul ensnared.

Shroud of Shadows

At 17th level, you are able to convert your Enslaved Souls into pure, dark and twisted divine power, creating a horrifying dark spiral of screaming, agonized souls. As an action, you may sacrifice all Enslaved Souls in your possession, causing a 15 foot radius black veil to swirl around you for 1 minute.

Whenever a creature enters the area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there, you may have that creature make a Wisdom save against your spell casting DC, taking 1d6 necrotic damage per soul sacrificed, and half on a success.

If you sacrificed 13 souls when activating the Shroud of Shadows, the area's radius is doubled to 30 feet and counts as difficult terrain. You may activate your Shroud of Shadows once per long rest. You may also spend a bonus action and sacrifice seven Enslaved Souls to regain a use.
