Monk
Base Class: Monk

Warning: This subclass has not been playtested yet, please ask your DM before playing this in a campaign. Advice or suggestions are welcome.

The Way of the Mist Walker stands in direct opposition to the Way of Shadow, preferring to misdirection to stealth. The two orders do end up fulfilling similar roles which often leads to conflict.

Fog Sense

3rd-level Way of the Mist Walker feature

When you are in contact with fog or mist you have blindsight in that fog or mist’s area in a radius of up to 120 feet. Additionally, you can cast the fog cloud spell at will, without components or expending a spell slot or ki. You can also upcast it using 1 ki point for every level above first. For example, to cast fog cloud at 2nd level you'd need to expend 1 ki point, to cast it at 3rd level you'd need to expend 2 ki points and so on.

Misty Duplicate

6th-level Way of the Mist Walker feature

You can use a bonus action to expend a number of ki points up to your proficiency bonus, for each ki point spent you create an illusory copy of a creature or object you have seen within the last 24 hours out of mist. If the copy is of something that would normally be capable of movement the copy can also move. These copies hold up to physical inspection but turn back to mist when they take any damage (the copy has the AC of whatever object or creature it is mimicking). A creature that uses the Search action and succeeds on an Intelligence(Investigation) check against your Ki save DC determines that a copy is an illusion. Additionally, if a copy of a creature and the actual creature are both within range of a target the copy can attack with the actual creature adding your martial arts die to the damage of the attack, each copy can only increase the damage of an attack in this way once per turn but there is no limit on the amount of copies that can increase the damage of a single attack. You can have a maximum number of copies equal to half you monk level, if you create a copy and you are at your maximum you must choose another copy to turn back to mist.

Misdirecting Stride

11th-level Way of the Mist Walker feature

You can expend 2 ki points to cast the misty step spell without components. When cast in this way you leave a misty duplicate in the space you left, and you turn invisible for 1 minute. The invisibility ends early if you attack or cast a spell.

Defensive Copies

17th-level Way of the Mist Walker feature

As a reaction, when you take damage from an affect you can see or sense with your blindsight you can interpose a misty duplicate between you and the source of the damage destroying the duplicate and preventing you from taking any damage.
