Choosing to follow the mysterious ways of the wide expanse of space that persists between the fabric of reality and all the planes. Using this connection to the sea of stars that flow through the astral plane. Monks of the Astral Sea have movements that flow smoothly with a cloak of energy around limbs which looks like the night's sky, a dark blanket sprinkled with shimmering stars. A strike from the monk can leave behind traces of this Astral ki in this creature allowing to manipulate it during combat. 

 

Astral Body

At 3rd level, your Astral Self subtly influences your everyday actions by granting you proficiency in a skill of your choice from this list: Arcana, Deception, History, Intimidation, Investigation, Nature, Persuasion, Religion, and whenever you make an ability check using one of the chosen skills, you can make it as a Wisdom check even if it normally uses a different ability. You choose another skill at 6th, 11th and 17th levels. You also gain the Message and Thaumaturgy Cantrips and do not need the material components to use them. 

True Astral Form

Additionally at 3rd level, your mastery of your own non physical energetic ki allows you to bring the non physical into the physical world. As a bonus action, you can spend 1 ki point to summon your True Astral Form. You determine the appearance of your True Astral Form.

For 10 minutes, you gain the following benefits.

  • You can see normally in darkness, both magical and non-magical, to a distance of 120 feet.
  • You can use your Wisdom modifier in place of your Strength modifier when making Strength checks and Strength saving throws.
  • Unarmed strikes you make can use your Wisdom modifier in place of your Strength or Dexterity modifier for the attack and damage rolls, their damage type is force and their reach is 5ft greater than normal.

Astral Mind

At 6th level, you can manipulate your astral ki to focus on a specific ability. While your True Astral Form is active, you can spend 1 Ki point to gain 1 of the following the following benefits. You may only have one benefit active at a time.

  • Advantage on Constitution checks and you gain 2d6 temporary hit points, which are lost when the duration ends.
  • Advantage on Strength checks and your carrying capacity doubles.
  • Advantage on Dexterity checks.
  • Advantage on Charisma checks.
  • Advantage on Intelligence checks.
  • Advantage on Wisdom checks.

Astral Spirit

At 11th level, your body has acclimated to the astral forces that flow throughout your ki, you can spend 3 Ki points to cast Sending or Clairvoyance without needing material components. Additionally, Once on each of your turns when you hit a target with an unarmed strike while your True Astral Form is active, you can deal extra damage to the target equal to your Martial Arts die.

Astral Superiority

At 17th level,  your Astral Self has reached the pinnacle of development, you can spend 5 Ki points to cast Scrying without needing material components. Additionally, while your True Astral Form is active, you can spend 1 Ki point to gain the following benefits.

  • +2 bonus to Armor Class and whenever you use the Extra Attack feature to attack twice, you can instead attack three times.
