Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks of the Way of the Weave are the ultimate masters of melding the arcane and the physical. Having trained themselves to recognize the energy within, they have learned to harness that energy to affect the world around them, pulling at the Weave of magic that holds the world together until the very forces of nature bend to their will. The flow of such a monk's combat is elegant and mesmerizing, as their strikes twist and warp the Weave itself.

Spellcasting

When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain the ability to cast spells with your physical motions and spiritual energy. Spells cast in this way require no verbal nor material components for you (unless the cost of the components is specified), and if a spell does not require somatic components, it does for you.

Whenever you take the attack action on your turn, you may forgo one of your attacks to cast a cantrip with a casting time of one action or less.

Cantrips

You learn two cantrips of your choice from the wizard spell list. You learn an additional wizard cantrip of your choice at 10th level.

Spell Slots

The Way of the Weave Spellcasting table shows what level of spells are available for you to learn and cast. This subclass does not grant spell slots to cast these spells, but you may spend ki points to cast these spells as if each ki point was one level of spell slot. For example, casting a cantrip would not require spending a ki point, but casting a 3rd level spell would require spending three ki points.

Spells Known of 1st Level and Higher

When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you may choose a number of spells from the wizard class list according to your spellcasting chart.

The Spells Known column of the Way of the Weave Spellcasting table shows when you learn more wizard spells of 1st level or higher. Each of these spells must be of a level of which you may spend ki points to cast. For instance, when you reach 7th level in this class, you can learn one new spell of 1st or 2nd level.

Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of the wizard spells you know with another spell of your choice from the wizard spell list. The new spell must be of a level of which you may spend ki points to cast.

Spellcasting Ability

Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for your wizard spells, since you cast your spells through your attunement with the weave and your awareness of the ambient magic in the world around you. You use your Wisdom whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your WIS modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a wizard spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

  • Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier
  • Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier

Arcane Vigor

At 6th level, you gain the ability to channel the energy of the Weave back into your own body. As an action, you can caste Haste, targeting yourself, without spending Ki points. You must finish a long rest before you can use this feature again.

Discipline Adept

Your training in mastering certain strands of the Weave has given you astounding mastery over a specific discipline of magic. Choose one:

  • Abjuration.
  • Conjuration.
  • Divination.
  • Enchantment.
  • Evocation.
  • Illusion.
  • Necromancy.
  • Transmutation.

Beginning at 11th level, when you forgo an attack on your turn to cast a spell, it may be of a level higher than cantrip so long as it is of your chosen discipline. You may only cast spells in this way of a level equal to or less than your WIS modifier (minimum 1).

Additionally, when you deal damage with a spell of your chosen specialization, you may add your WIS modifier to the damage roll.

Spellstorm Weaver

At 17th level, you may forgo any number of attacks on your turn to cast an equal number of spells with casting times of one action or less. These spells must either be cantrips or spells of your chosen discipline.
