Monk
Base Class: Monk

The way of the Byakugan is a monastic tradition focused around close range fighting and disruption of a  creature’s ki. Followers of this path have spent years studying the balance between the mortal body and the soul. Monks of this tradition learn to see the weaknesses of their enemies, through advanced and secret visual abilities and accuracy, only spoken of in legends. They’ve become experts of anatomical precision while providing fine ki control to target an enemy's spiritual pressure points. Their reputation inspires both awe and fear, delivering debilitating strikes to their enemy's very souls with only the slightest touch.

Byakugan Eye

When you choose this path at 3rd level, your meditation has given you the ability to awaken your enlightened eyes and grant you supernatural awareness of the battlefield. As a bonus action, you spend 1 ki point and your eyes take on a changed appearance, granting you an additional special sight within a 10 foot radius centered on you, for up to 1 minute. You gain the following benefits within this radius while this feature is active:

  • You have advantage on all Wisdom(perception) checks that rely on sight.
  • You have blindsight within this radius. You can effectively see anything that isn't behind total cover, even if you're blinded or in darkness. Moreover, you can see an invisible creature within this range, unless the creature successfully hides from you.
  • Other creatures don't gain advantage on attack rolls against you as a result of being unseen by you.

This effect ends early if you become incapacitated or die, or if you dismiss it(no action required). The radius of this feature increases as you gain levels in this class. It increases to 15 feet at 6th level, 20 feet at 11th level, and 30 feet at 17th level.

Gentle Palms

Starting at 3rd level, you’re able to combine the visual prowess of your ocular abilities with your martial arts by injecting ki into a creature’s spiritual pressure points, of which can only be seen by the Byakugan Eye. While your Byakugan Eye feature is active, your unarmed strikes deal an additional amount of force damage equal to your wisdom modifier(minimum of one).

Enhanced Byakugan

Starting at 6th level, your meditation and visual training have allowed you to enhance the visual prowess of your ocular abilities. As a bonus action, or as part of your bonus action to activate your Byakugan Eye feature, you can expend up to 6 additional ki points to enhance your visual abilities. For every 2 ki points expended, you can gain one of the following benefits of your choice, for the duration of your Byakugan Eye feature:

  • Extended Senses. The radius of your Byakugan Eye feature is doubled for the duration.
  • Ghostly Sight. You can see through solid, non-magical objects, within your Byakugan Eye feature’s radius. These objects appear as ghostly, transparent images.
  • Insightful Vision. You gain advantage on Wisdom(Insight) ability checks and saving throws against a creature or object that you can see with your Byakugan Eye radius. Additionally, you learn if the target is under the effects of a spell but you can’t discern which spell it is, only its school of magic.

Enhanced Gentle Palms

Starting at 11th level, you’re able to disrupt the flow of a creature’s ki by targeting major ki pressure points. When you successfully hit a creature with a Stunning Strike while using your Byakugan Eye feature, choose one additional effect from the list below:

  • Choose an ability score. The target has disadvantage on ability checks and saving throws with that ability score.
  • The target cannot cast spells.
  • The target cannot regain hit points.
  • The target’s movement speed is reduced by half.

The duration of the chosen effect lasts for up to 1 minute. A greater restoration spell can end this effect early.

Gentle Palms Frenzy

Starting at 17th level, your mastery over the Byakugan Eye and Gentle Palms Technique allow you to strike targets with overwhelming speed and surgical accuracy. While your Byakugan Eye feature is active and you use your Flurry of Blows, you can make up to three additional attacks with it(up to a total of five Flurry of Blows attacks). Additionally, if you hit one target with all five Flurry of Blows attacks successfully, the target becomes under all of the effects of your Enhanced Gentle Palms feature until the start of your next turn.
